bulldog05-CO2017 102 Report Share Posted October 8, 2022 I think Tazewell has a chance to win this. Again, it depends on there intensity and if they really want it or not. I say this is gonna be a helluva game.
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted October 8, 2022 Well, the Bluefield team they are about to play is one of the worst of the past 20 years. If you've ever had a chance to beat Bluefield, this is the year to do it... BandanaVTDavis4321, CPF and Graham32 2

Bluefield was short handed against PikeView and should be back at full strength, except for Hairston who is out for the season with an injury. This is their homecoming game and they will be motivated to win. Tazewell's defense got exposed big time last night. Richlands spread Tazewell's defense out and Brown was able to pick a lane and run, when the linebackers stepped up to try to tackle him, he dumped it off to a wide open receiver. Bluefield has more athleticism then Richlands and their QB is athletic as well. Tazewell needs to figure something out on Defense. I think they can move the ball and score on Bluefield, but can they stop the Beavers? That will be the big question.

stu_bean 1,058 Report Share Posted October 8, 2022 It's going to be interesting. I think we can win but defense has to sharpen up. I'm curious were there suspensions for the flying knee, stomping and swinging players?

Bluefield researcher 1,195 Report Share Posted October 8, 2022 Two numerical milestones in the game for Bluefield. One. October 14, 1922. On this date Bluefield played their first high school game vs Logan at Logan. They lost 7-0. October 14, 2022 will mark exactly 100 years since that date. It is true that Bluefield played a few games here and there from 1909 to 1913 but those were more like intramural teams. Two: Bluefield now has 699 wins as a program. To put this in perspective NO ONE in Virginia has that many wins EXCEPT Hampton. That is right. Bluefield would be 2nd all time in wins in the state of Virginia. Only Parkersburg and Bridgeport have more wins in the state of WV. Obviously it would be real cool for Bluefield to get their 700th win on the exact 100 year anniversary of full time high school football. Any that was disciplined for actions in any previous game is now eligible to play. As far as I know there were no problems in the Pikeview game. BandanaVTDavis4321 1,717 Report Share Posted October 8, 2022 BR, can you do a data search in your excel files that shows how many of those 699 wins were against teams outside the state of WV? I don't know how you have the data coded, but that would be interesting to me if you can pull that without having to do a manual count, which I could do on fourseasons, but I'm to lazy. I'm guessing 100ish? Maybe less than 100, don't know.

Their were no issues, in fact , players from both teams were helping each other up and tapping there hands on each other's helmets on several occasions. There was one instance where a Pikeview receiver was attempting to catch a pass down the middle and a Bluefield defender leveled him. It wasn't a cheap shot, just a bang, bang play. While the Pikeview player was down on the ground the Bluefield player kneeled down beside him to check and see if he was alright.

I think they can move the ball and score on Bluefield, but can they stop the Beavers? That will be the big question. On the flip side, Tazewell was reintegrating 2 starters back into the defensive rotation who had been out since Week 2. One of whom, as a RAM DE, did an unsatisfactory job of sealing the edge the entire night. His colleague at the LION DE position didn’t do much better. The failure to keep Brown contained inside forced the single defender in coverage on the slot receiver (usually Kaizon Taylor) to make an either Brown/or WR choice, and Brown without fail made the right read in those spots. When they forced Brown to stay inside, it resulted in 2-5 yard carries. When he got outside, it was chaos. That is a schematic oddity that is difficult to fix in real time but is very correctable after a week of practice. Richlands running for almost as many yards as Graham and Riverheads combined is a one-off, I’d be willing to wager. It will be a good game at Mitchell next Friday evening. Tazewell needs it desperately for playoff seeding. Bluefield has some historical milestones riding on it. Should be fun! I think it’s much more likely that Bluefield finishes at 2-8 or 3-7. Bluefield’s not beating Ridgeview, and Tazewell/Oak Hill are of the toss-up varieties at best. Bluefield’s staying home this year. Actually the math says they will be in the playoffs on 85% of the possible outcomes if they should finish 5-5. If they should beat Oak Hill and Ridgeview that brings a boat load of points, Tazewell will also bring a good amount of points if they win.
