Why did they not give Greg Tester coach of the year for bringing the Wing-T to Central and saving Owens’s job.

This was an interesting matchup between two teams with contrasting styles. Richlands came into this game with all the confidence in the world, and it showed early as they wasted no time going 65 yards down the field in a hurry after the opening kickoff. If I recall correctly their defense stuffed Central on their first possession for a 3 and out, and a Central punt for about 15 net yards made it look like a rout was about to ensue.  But from there, it was mostly Central's game the rest of the way.  They should have scored a couple more times in the first half but between a big defensive stop or two by Richlands and Central shooting themselves in the foot, the Warriors only came away with 7 first half points.  Make no mistake, Richlands' QB is an impressive playmaker.  His arm alone accounted for most of Richlands' offense as they had difficulty getting anything going on the ground.  As the game went on, Central began to put more pressure on the Richlands QB and flushed him out of the pocket, or got a sack.  Central also delivered some big hits on Richlands' wide receivers when they caught the ball in front of them.  #4 took a couple of pancake hits, but to his credit he bounced back.  Richlands was up 10-7 in the 3rd when he took a big hit and the ball was jarred loose and Central returned the fumble about 30 yards into the red zone.  That was the turning point of the game.  The Richlands' defensive scheme bottled up Central's running game on many occasions but the Warriors kept pecking away and broke a few big ones here and there.  With the score 14-10 Central in the 4th and Richlands driving Central's Ethan Mullins picked off a pass and rumbled and bumbled about 95 yards for the back breaking TD.  Richlands' ability to strike quickly with the pass kept them in it to the end of the game.  Central's inability to get a kickoff to stay in bounds helped shorten the field all night long for Richland's offense but Central's quickness on defense kept pressure on Richlands' offense the whole game. All in all, it was an exciting high school football game to watch. 

May be wrong but I'm taking Eastside to beat Holston. Eastside has Garrett Whited back and their quarterback has been playing well and can be a factor will his arms and legs.

I know Big Stone Gap is all in house until JV and they run a very good program. Lots of dedication to the Union program down there

I agree with you both. However, when I think about it, the games aren't for the fans or the money they generate. 
They're really for the players. If it weren't for the kids that wanted to play, there wouldn't be a team. No team, no game.  No game, no fans. No fans, no money.
Does a 1-9 team "deserve" to be in the playoffs? No.
Does that senior that loves the game, and maybe is in a bad situation due to inept coaching or poor turnout deserve one more chance to put on that uniform and play the game we all love? Absolutely!!
If I was a HS senior, I would be ecstatic to play just one more time. Even if I knew I would get beat to death. Lol

I'm typically not one to promote or shill stuff involving my team, but I made an exception in this case.  This is an outstanding video very professionally done and I can't begin to say enough good things about it, so I figured I'd share it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet as the video has been out for over a week now.  Hope you all enjoy.

Theres no way Chilhowie beats Burton at home this round. The first time was luck. Galax has only played 2 teams with more then 4 win. 

I also don't think Central  is quite as good now, with the injuries they  have had. So that should be taken into consideration. A lot on here are saying the Pioneers go 0-10, however I think they steal 1 or 2, but who knows in could be wrong and if I am I will admit it. 

This is entertaining but nothing to do with the game that was played. Apparently some real tough guys and some soft feelings guys. So I’m assuming guys with dad bodies or guys that has played a lot of Madden. Either way good reading.

great location for a game----VIEW ONLY,my question to the schools who have turf, do you think the rash of injuries at CENTRAL are do to the turf.It seems to me that RIDGEVIEW had several season ending injuries when the first opened the new field up, those are now decreased, maybe because they practice on the grass????I dont remember HONAKER or RICHLANDS having those issues,different turf?Just wondering because THE PARK looked really good  on tv the other night

Central has speed at every skill position. Big play abilities. #55 on the D line was impressive last Friday. QB is a duel threat running & throwing. If Lebanon doesn’t have a lock down corner,  #4 can make big plays.

I'm not counting my eggs before they hatch....im saying 14 to 13 UNION!!! and hoping like hell that kicker don't get a chance for a kick at the end of the game..😲🙏

I was in agreement with you on all your points till the humble one. Here’s why, these kids started as mostly freshmen and sophomores two years ago are now Juniors and Seniors and there wasn’t no teams being humble with them.

The Coal Bowl between Lebanon and Honaker is always fun and generally  competitive. It's at Lebanon this season, I'm expecting  a close game.  I think a lot of people are underestimating the Pioneers  so far. They will be much better  this season. I'm not saying they will be a top tier playoff team, but they might sneak in. For teams like Honaker, Eastside,  Central, VHS, Marion, Grundy and Tazwell, I wouldn't overlook  them on your schedule  or you might get a rude surprise.
