Virginia High taking Graham to task tonight. I believe the list may change a little unless Graham stages a major comeback in the 4th. GMen not playing well tonight at all. 

Hell I wouldn’t even wanna make it to state in 2a just to get embarrassed.  Honestly wish the team wouldn’t show up to play JM.  Only way anything will ever be done to fix that situation is vhsl losing money 

I’m pretty sure he does play basketball and baseball which begs the question why would he come to Richlands when Lebanon is already better than Richlands in all 3 sports. He would also be in the SWD so really nothing changes he just has to carry the load with a different jersey on

I've heard Richlands isn't the only place they've been sniffing around.

I disagree.  4 is the appropriate number for WV.  The disparity between teams like Martinsburg and Huntington to teams like Princeton and Fairmont are huge.

To be honest, they had a great game plan last night.  They took it right at Hairston and got a couple of fouls on him early so he couldn't be aggressive.  Bluefield kept firing up threes, Graham kept getting easy bucket in close.  Not sure Bluefield was ready to go up against a team that had as many good athletes as they have.  Best high school game I've watched in a while.

I really think the Beaver/Graham game tonight when it's all said and done will help both teams. 
Graham is young and talented but tonight's win shows them that they have some great potential. 
For Bluefield, I think this loss, right before a holiday break, will stew in them and show that they are beatable if they do not bring it for 32 minutes. 
Great job both teams, it was fun to be there, the 10th of January should be good as well.

Blake Graham and Marquel Ray are the go to guys for Graham, in my opinion.  Ray is the leader on the floor, he dictates the offensive play, very good ball handler and decision maker, good defender with good hands, causes turnovers..  Blake  can score and is very scrappy and plays good defense, can make steals and block shots.  Fix contributes quite a bit for a freshman, but he along with G. Palmer (another freshman) and a few others all contribute about the same, good group of players that rotate in and out without any noticeable drop off.

Graham is at Bluefield tonight in the old high school gym.  I don't think it has the capacity to hold the crowd to show up.  I hear when they get to 1000, they are going to turn folks away.  Should be interesting to see how Graham stacks up.  Bluefield always fields a good basketball team and this year is no exception.  Still seems like Graham isn't in basketball shape yet, from what I've watched.  They play Bluefield again in a couple weeks, that might be a better indicator.

Pretty sure I seen somewhere that they are only selling tickets online. And when are schools in the area going to get rid of their insanely small gyms. Sure culture has a big thing to do w it but not a lot a people care abt the culture bc they can’t even watch a game. Chilhowie and honaker are probably the worst in the area. Ig honaker is just waiting to consolidate with Lebanon and use their gym and chilhowie waiting to consolidate with Marion and use northwoods

I think Graham will be in the mix for the SWD title this year.   They have some very good young talent.

I think the thing that waters it down is allowing so many teams in the playoffs.  I'm ok with 6 classificaitons, 5 may be better, but having so many teams in the playoffs waters it down imo.

I think the playoff situation is certainly a contributing factor but it's more than that.
Region 6A only has 11 schools while Region 6B has 19. Region 5B only has 10 schools. Class 5 only has 48 schools while Class 6 has 60. VHSL breaks down regions within Class 5 and Class 6 to pacify those schools that balk at having to travel 20 miles for a regional contest. It has nothing to do with balance and everything to do with those large schools expecting everyone to cater to them. If VHSL had a backbone and made a 5 Class system, broken down with even distribution of Regions, a lot of ths knucklehead stuff that takes place within the playoff format would solve itself. Schools like Freedom-Woodbridge would complain about having to travel 40 miles to Briar Woods for a regional battle but they will get over it. Now factor in Freedom-Woodbridge is 6B with 1,600 students and Briar Woods is 5D with 1,400 students, it makes even less sense. 

People can say what they want about Cromer but I think he was a damn good coach at Cburg. Hopefully he’s able to get things turned around for the Buffalos

Yeah, no parades when you go 0-10.  Just a parade of coaches leaving over at RHS the past few years (not just football).

No VHSL school should be held to a higher standard than Liberty Christian, including rules pertaining to transfers and recruitment.

Well, now we can continue this thread by asking questions, or giving opinions about the new assistants under the New Head Coach.  We can probably reach above a thousand post befor we're through.  Let's go for it.
