since the beginning of the arby's,  you can count on one hand teams from southwest va that should have been in this tourney and could have gave a good showing,   the only team i saw recently was the GC squad with mcclung, ervin and dean.   after those 3 that team was nowhere near par either.   the southwest va teams are always entered one year past their prime.

duffy was that good,  best to play in this area,   just didn't have it between the ears

lebanon and abingdon had a scrimmage yesterday and lebanon came out on top of a stout abingdon team,    both teams are for real
 

couldn't ask for a better set of officials for that one,   what a joke  lol

one player that hasn't been mentioned is duffy gilmore,  played at ervinton and haysi,   he is the best player to play in this area,   his off court issues were the reason you haven't heard of him or he didn't go anywhere,   this kid was a pure trouble maker,   i saw him put up 50 on oak hill at clinchco in the early 90's and he was basically playing 1 on 5,   very easily could have played in the NBA 

its a joke because McAmis is not the coach of the year,  he didn't beat GC, he let abingdon beat his team on his home court and Vermillion made the championship game,  this is a joke,  Gavin Austin is better or as good as half the first team and didn't make first team and only one player from Union made the first team all region d,  come on                 same thing goes for the all district team with union,  ,   pure joke

how can someone cry and complain in national press about transfers and other basketball leagues when their own program has had transfers from local area next door to them for years and years and their own players have benefited from this same organization,  you got your tail spanked live with it,  single a didn't complain 20+ yrs ago when your double aa school dropped down so you could win state championships,  only problem is you got your tail handed to you then also  lol  what a joke

by not calling a foul in that situation the ref's did actually decide the outcome of the game,  that awarded it to radford,  the foul should have been called regardless of the time on the clock, the foul could have been the difference in the shot actually being released in time

i think it is their year,  i think they will cut the nets down in richmond,   mcnulty came back from off season knee ligament surgery to play this year,  remarkable

region d 1a cancelled theirs last night and there was no snow on the ground,  nothing shocks me anymore

getrektm7   there were a few teams from the past that would roll GC in the ground,   The mcclung team was very good,  but this team is easy beatable     what you said was laughable  

GC meant no disrespect but this would not have happened back in the 70's, 80's or 90's,   sorry but teams were much better then and GC would have faced much tougher competition,  these easy blowout win's they had in the past 4 yrs would not have happened,  sorry,  basketball is weak in southwest va now and so is coaching

this area will provide that opportunity more than others though with the state of basketball in our area,  this area has a lot of weak teams and i mean weak,  a tradition rich program could do this again,  but i also wouldn't bet the house on it

McAmis Jr. is not even the best player on that team,  he is not even all district in my opinion but he will beat out Elijah will not get his due because Jr is the coach's son

the biggest downfall for abingdon going into this tournament is coach brown,  he just cant coach,  should have been canned 3 years ago,  when abingdon plays together and team ball they are the best team by far but they get into the individual stuff and it brings them back to the other teams levels,  he just cant coach,  he has been lucky to have been fed the talent he has had,  coach frazier and coach dotson would have won 2 state championships with the talent abingdon has had over past 4 years

honaker girls will have a very good shot to win state,  PH can play with anybody but i dont think they have enough to get where they want

grundy will win the region and possible one game in state but that will end their season
