I read this in the voice of the radio spot. Beautiful stuff man, I know it took some time and creativity to put it together. I'll be looking forward to this from now on. 

He’s being sarcastic because he’s not happy that a GC team that has less wins than Hurley and Twin Valley the last 2 years would ever stoop so low as to play them. 

Bottom line, per custom, you got snotty with someone with whom you disagreed.  However, this time, you were wrong and came across poorly by using two examples that make his point for him (one of which very clearly so).  Instead of exercising humility in accepting an error, you continue to paddle your boat against the current.  C’est la vie.  Not the first, certainly won’t be the last.

They go down to the Hogo for a while, beat up on Holston and Northwood for a while, build up their confidence and then move again, either back to the SWD or the now defunct Clinch Mountain.

in my opinion, two of the worst things that ever happened to officiating in Southwest Virginia have been the move to three officials for varsity games and moving the girl season to the same as the boys. You do not get better officiating with three than you were with two and combined with having four games per night there are not enough officials to go around. So pretty much anybody that wants to be an official can get all the work they want no matter how bad they are.

I wish him a ton if success, if it is indeed Mr. Akers.  Lord knows that he has had to deal with a ton of negativity.  He is after all a human and is dedicating his time to coach young men.  From an outsider looking in, nobody should have to endure the criticism that this man has endured while trying to coach kids.  If it were me, I would have left a long time ago and focused on the people that matter in my life.  

Coach Church did many great things for the Hurley football program, not only as a head coach, but as an assistant for years. This rebel hopes he’s involved in the program in some way for the upcoming season and seasons beyond. Huge thank you to everything Coach Church has given us and the players. We, as a community, will support whatever he chooses do to in future, but again we sure hope he’s back in the program in some degree. 

They had a darn good recruiting year from Wythe County and Russell County.

This needs to stop in my opinion. What is seemingly a crack or knock on Gste City fans is actually hurtful and mean spirited towards Akers. That man doesn't deserve this. And yes, it is mean spirited and hurtful towards Akers even though the jab is towards GC fans. I get that, but the more time that passes by from Akers no longer being the coach at GC, the joke or jabs by keeping this thread alive become more hurtful to Akers than it does to the GC fans on this board. Only my take and I know not popular, but since he's gone from GC, the jabs or joke of keeping this thread alive shift more to Akers expense, and away from GC fans.

In your first two sentences you state the time has come to stop bashing Akers. In the rest of your novel you proceed to talk trash about everything he did wrong in your opinion. I have a hard time seeing how the head football coach is responsible for the way 8 year olds are coached. I may be missing something.

This is a no brainer.  Tony Palmer has won more games in his first 3 years than any coach in the area including Carlock, Simons and Mance.  Go Graham!

Being good at basketball usually translates to good hands on the receivers side as well.
