There are some very good ideas for Scott County in this post, and the Big A's of B.C. is great!

They need something like the Upper Keen Wildcats, the Big A's of B.C, or the Coal Canyon Miners. Heck even the Buchanan County Buchs (Bucks). Who am I to say though. If it was us here in Scott County we would need something other than the name of a high school already in place. Something like the Midway Commanders (if it was in the Midway area of the county on Veterans Memorial Highway), or the Moccasin Gap Trailblazers. All I know is if Buchanan County can consolidate Scott County may not be far behind. Travel time in Scott County is nothing like the mountains of Buchanan...and they aren't even including Council either.

I thought they already chose the coyotes.

Don't know about the situation and haven't heard this. I hope Turner does well at Pikeview. Tough school to win at in football. Nice area around Athens/Princeton area. Pikeview is off I-77 and not far from Beckley, close to Princeton, Concord, Pipestem. Nice area, but in football going to be tough. Bluefield, Princeton, Graham on the VA side ain't that far, James Monroe ain't that far from Pikeview, and deceptively close up in Coal City is Independence High.

Didn't Pikeview just hire a new head coach a couple months ago? Anybody got the inside scoop what's going on up there?

Named: Terry Barrett - probably S&C and assistant HC type duties. Jordan Seals - not sure positional responsibilities Brandon Breeding - probably RB, not sure defense; previous Richlands coaching experience Eric Phipps - probably OL/DL, previous Richlands experience Bobby Adkins - not sure position but has previous Richlands coaching experience; I think article mentioned being a volunteer assistant. Not formally named but assuming will be: Bubba Edwards - OC, QB coach; not sure if he will help on defense So, I'm not seeing LB, DB and WR yet.....but Seals could be helping out in those areas.

ATW put this out a couple of years ago with some potential names and mascots for Buchanan County (This was the 3rd poll ATW conducted) The original Polls included a head to head Mascot challenge. In all honesty I have seen discussions online about keeping it as Grundy High. If they do, how much of that is because of just wrestling?

In tribute to the coal inustry, the 'Powder Monkeys." In tribute to Grundy's rowdy past like many SWVA towns, the "Pistol Whippers," or "Curb Stompers" would be cool as well. The "Ace and Gary Rolling Thunderball," "Angry Anglicans," "Butchering Baptists," and "Pissed Off Presbyterians" all need to be off the table!

Who plays who and when will they be played? I assume first round games are at the higher seed then where?

If I had a "VOTE", I'd go with the Buchanan Co Blueticks.

Not going to respond to the form, because I believe that is for the folks in Buchanan County. But I like the Buchanan County Bucks. Or perhaps the Buchan County Miners.

I think Richlands offense will be fine. Batting over .300 as a team. Sometimes just need more timely hits. Lee won that game on 2 hits. Very timely hits. Central is a team to worry about. They seem to be on fire at the right time. Their district has been hard to figure out. But I wouldn't take any of the Mnt 7 teams lightly. Ready to get these district games done to know the seeding for region. Most would assume Lebanon to beat Marion, but their first 2 games were close. So its not a given. I would think it would be 1. Richlands 2. Lebanon/Marion 3. Marion/Lebanon 4. Tazewell We know Mnt 7 is 1. Battle 2. Wise 3. Union 4. Lee
