  1. Horn is 23. He’s a senior. He’s played since he was a freshman. Making the switch to the spread is great. Offense will be okay once the line gets it together. It’s a smaller line, so they’ll have to figure out how to play. I trust they’ll get that fixed up. Talking to some coaches after the game. We had 5 defensive starters held out tonight, including both linebackers. So I think the D will be better than what it showed. But I think the O will be fine this season. We handled Belfry pretty well after the first 4 plays I thought. They’re going to score. They are the Salem or eastern KY, so they’re going to get theirs. But I was pleased.

  2. In almost a photo negative way (compared to Richlands), I seem to recall Marion using blue as an accent color pretty frequently. And on one occasion Sonny Hagy outfitted his team with blue jerseys -- which they changed into after pregame warm-ups. I have always thought it cool that Graham has separate official colors for academics and athletics. That doesn't alter the fact that I hate Graham (in a loving Christian way, of course).

  3. You wanna explain how he’s NOT a role model? Kid from nothing went to the top of the mountain. Never been been in the headlines for th wrong reasons as far as I can remember. Please enlighten us?

  4. Thomas Jones doesn't owe Big Stone Gap or anyone in it a damned thing. Get over yourself.

  5. Why, do people think this man is so great? Yes, he was a awesome talent in football, nobody can disagree. He needs to take lessons from someone who truly cares about kids, and the game. Jason Witten, is a true role model! Thomas Jones is a Joke and by far not a role model!

Haven't heard? Would like to know how the scrimmage went. Hopefully, both teams played hard and came away healthy.

  12. All but one play in that clip was 2nd team or JV. I had been waiting for them to upload clips of their QB, #6. Need to check him out. 6'6" 225, and he's the real deal. The 2nd clip you posted was 1st team. I think they picked out the worst plays. Haha

  13. Well, when you go 6-54 in the last 6 seasons, you shouldn't expect much participation....

  14. A "new" Graham - Grundy game found tonight. They played a benefit game on 12-5-1931 for a Graham player that had been injured early in the season and his foot had to be amputated. Graham won 19-18.

  15. Park View - Sterling has an enrollment of approximately 1,450 students. We have some close friends with two boys in that school system. It's my understanding, they had 18 kids come out for football with 14 of those never having played anything more than flag football. It's not as big a loss or disappointment to that community as it would be for others. According to a Yahoo Sports article from a couple days ago, PV-Sterling also has several kids of former NFL players among it's student body. Centennial High in neighboring Maryland cancelled last football season at about this time last year. They will field a team this season with 25 players and no JV program. Two high schools in Indiana and one in Chicago recently cancelled this upcoming season for lack of participation. It's a growing trend that isn't going to stop, I'm afraid.
