Man, if actual criminal charges come from a shove or two, he totally should have threw some good punches and whipped his ass. Couple black eyes, busted mouth, loose a few teeth, now that could stop a trash talking dad and make him think twice about running his mouth and approaching the teams bench while a game is going on. I would want more out of my assault charge.

If it came to a knockdown drag out between Rife & this Lawrence dude, my money is on Rife. In the old days, this guy wouldn’t have made it to the bench, practically on the court. He would have been stopped dead in his tracks. People in charge the other night should have escorted him before he made it to the bench especially if he’d been mouthing off all night. All these Lowe supporters crucifying Rife online , calling for him to be arrested etc. is ridiculous. If Lowe & company really cared about the girls, they would have thrown their support to Rife but they chose to raise 💩 all season. I don’t have a dog in the fight and aren’t friends with Rife or Lowe but I know BS when I see it. 

I read the comments on Rife. I know Rife a little bit, not well, but know him distantly. I liked him the 2 times we met. I think hes a good dude. I know about the "rules" and all that BS. What about the dirtbag who went down near the bench and literally wanted and tried to start confrontation? No talk about this nitwit? The guy that did this has a reputation in that area (as I just discovered by text last night and I know the source is valid) and he's a hothead and is known to be one.
I hope the Taxewell County School Board gets this right. Suspend Rife for 3 games as he broke the rules, but understand everyone has a bad day, but the dirtbag who Started the confrontation (on purpose and with intent) should be the one banned from Tazewell County gyms for the next 1 year. That's actually the appropriate thing to do. Only my opinion, and it's easy to pile on, but I just hope people know the Other side of the story about the party involved and his history that actually causes the incident on purpose. 

Tom Rife didn’t push anyone out. He stepped up after Aaron Lowe was fired, he has absolutely nothing to do with the shit show Aaron Lowe caused and continues to keep stirred up now. Ricky Lawrence, the white Tshirt dude, is salty because he wasn’t hired as the boys coach. 
 
It’s common knowledge that Tom is only coaching this year, he had no intention of returning. The treatment he and his assistants are receiving from Aaron Lowes army of loyalist is shameful and they do not deserve that, they stood up and lead these girls to a successful season despite all the bullshit.  The minute Ricky Lawrence decided to get up out of his seat, stand behind the players during the game and run his mouth, was the minute he decided to take away from his daughters and all the girls success and make it about him. He’s robbed his daughter and all the girls the opportunity to enjoy their accomplishments. Parents need to stay in the stands. Period. 

The game Ridgeview had with them was considered a game.  They had 22 games scheduled and was expecting to get 4 at Uva wise tourney and only got 3 and was supposed to play 2 games in Lee High Tournament and a team dropped out so they only played 1.  They added Chilhowie and Kachea to still get 22 games.  

If O'Quinn stays it will hurt his development.  Period.  No doubts about it.  Maybe he can mitigate that by hitting camps hard but I think he plays sports year round so I'm not so sure he will get the next level development he needs to play at D-1/2.  They are going to want to see varying throws and concepts, effective reading of the defense (RV doesn't currently employ 2nd and 3rd reads), hitting the check-downs (RV doesn't have those) and running various offensive schemes.  Hell, they have the kid jog to the sideline to get every play.  So much for the kid reading defenses.  That isn't the HC,OC or scheme that will get you to next level. Just my 2 cents.   

I think it would be pretty cool idea to have a crossover with  M7 and SWD. 3 team rotation so Graham would play Union Lee and Wise on a 2 year cycle and Tazewell would play Ridgeview Battle and Gate city then they switch. That would keep teams from scheduling weaker 1A schedules non conference

I don't think the Richlands HC is the problem.  I think what it comes down to is the feeder programs, (Little League).  A few years back, there were several teams in the program allowing many young and upcoming talented players to learn from their coaches.  Then along comes a couple of guys who want to be known as the best coaches in the area, and wreck the program.  They reduced the number of teams down to two, each having a multitude of players, and then, they only play a few, while the others get to watch from the sidelines.  They made the program about their coaching ability rather than a learning experience for the players.  Who wants their young child to go to practice everyday, do all that's expected, and never get into live action.  Back in the day, little league was all about learning the game, not acting like you are the Dallas Cowboys rather than the Richlands Cowboys.  Now we have very talented players walking the halls of our schools and never coming out to participate because they don't want to waste the time and energy to set on the bench, like they have been taught during their time in the feeder program.  Fix the feeder program, and in my opinion, you fix the problem.  Let the younger players play, no matter what level of talent, you are to teach them, not destroy their desire!  Who cares if you don't win the championship on that level, it's what you have taught these young minds that is the important thing, not the fact that you are the winningest coach that ever came along.  Who cares about you? It should be all about the players on the feeder program level, not the flamboyant coach on the sideline!!!!

I got to go with RV, staying in the mountain 7. Long drive for us but hopefully it’s worth it. I thought we might have had a good chance if we had beat Gate City but that didn’t happen so good luck and hopefully no one gets hurt. Go Bears and Go Pack

I’m just going to keep the train horn in the Jeep and the next playoff game I go to that sounds like a funeral I’m going to bring the horn out and just start blaring it. 

Hopefully everybody will be feeling better both teams will be close to full strength.  

I can't say that I know any inside information for this situation, but I do have some theories.  I believe that the culture of youth sports has changed so much with this generation that it forces coaches and administrations to adapt in how they relate to the athletes.  IMO, kids these days are more emotional when it comes to being coached and parents are too involved in the day to day practices.  Past coaches could rant and rave, even yell and cuss at their teams and the players would just let it go in one ear and out the other.  Deep down they knew it was simply the coach blowing off frustrations and a tactic to get their attention for more focus.  Now you have to be very careful with your tone and words or you get demonized quickly.  This very much differs with each school.  What works at a Gate City, may cause an uproar in Big Stone Gap and vice-versa.  It comes down to that school's culture and each group of parents culture.  If that is the case with Bostic and his team, someone will have to be willing to change if they want to succeed.  Not necessarily for this situation but in general I am old school and personally think these kids need a little ass-chewing occasionally to motivate and steer them in the right direction.  And, I also personally think parents need to stop being so quick to raise hell every time their kid comes home complaining.

I know a few years back if visiting team was 2 hours away they had a say when it was played so I don’t know if that’s still applies or not.  Google maps has it 1 hr and 54 mins so should of been Graham choice.
