I am not doubting Ridgeview, they are very athletic and good team!!! I can see them finishing 3rd or 4th in the M7 and causing some trouble for some teams come tournament time!

Ridgeview has played Wise Central extremely tough these last two years... they always say in rivalry games, throw the records out the window.  People fail to remember that Ridgeview actually swept the regular season meetings last year with Central.

I am really interested to see how this team responds Friday night at Union. For the teams sake I hope they come out and have a better focus, intensity, heart, and will to win that they lacked against Ridgeview. 
I am not downing anybody in this post at all, Isaiah is an excellent ball player, and has a ton of upside to him, but he is not the player he is without his teammates, and I will say that and stand behind it through and through!!

I didn't see TJs quote first and thought you guys were upset with the RV coach and his quote, which I thought was reasonable and innocuous. But now I see TJs quote and yeah it's a bad look. It wouldn't look as bad if he wasn't taking about his son, that adds an extra layer and makes it sound worse. 
giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe only Isaiah was playing with intensity and focus throughout the game? I've seen games where other players can not be as intense and ready to go as a star player, so maybe he was just saying the rest of the team needs to match Isaiahs intensity. 
 
And as everyone knows, I'm far from a McAmis fan haha so even giving him the benefit of the doubt makes me need a shower.

I’m a Blue Devil fan but I admit. When I read this, I felt totally sorry for the Warrior team “who was very disappointing”.  Well, all the Warrior players who didn’t play to win that is “except Isaiah who played to win”. I’m sure they really all showed up and said “you know I really want to go out there and play like %#*% tonight. How about we all go do that?  But let’s not tell Isaiah. We want him to look better than all of us like his dad wants him to every night.”  
What kind of a coach distinguishes one player over the whole team?  A Central team of course. I have heard that the Hayes kid looks way more like a player than Isaiah ever does at times. Mainly because he is just mentally tougher. When times get tough for Isaiah he will look over at the bench looking for help.  Hayes just fights and plays through the toughness.  If that’s the case I know who to take every second. 
And if the Central team was that disappointing, except Isaiah, maybe they need to just all go sit down and let the prophet TJ McAmis and his son from on high  who sits at his right hand see how he does on the court by himself. I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t be a pretty picture. Unless he is changing water bottles into wine and making the Central crowd drunk (which is a real possibility the way they act), that’s probably the only miracle you would see. 
Heard he has a daughter coming up on the JV that is a pretty good player as well.  What’s next on his bucket list trying to take Robin Dotson’s position as Warriors girls coach after his son graduates so he can tell the paper how bad all the other girls are on her team and how they don’t play with heart and passion like his kid?

Alot of stuff done during a game dont show up in the stat sheet. I didnt go to the game lastnight, but I did listen in here and there.
I heard the announcers talking about Brickey leading the team in taking charges!!! That dont show up in a stat line, but is big and helpful to the team! Just like disruptive defense, deflecting passes, altering shots........

I agree with you #BBN 100%. There is definitely no I in TEAM but you would never know that from the stats of last nights game. 
 
I was also very disappointed in what McAmis put in the paper about the team minus 1!! 
He has a great team this year that could go farther than in the past two years but if the McAmis’ don’t quit playing (trying to play) a one person game it will not happen. 

What about the other players on the team, that played defense, dished out assist, crashed the boards and pulled down rebounds???  If you take those playing defense, dishing out assist, and pulling down rebounds, do you still win the ballgame? I don't think so, there is no I in TEAM, but with those statements it makes you wonder how the head coach feels about his team!! Am I the only one that thinks this statement to the paper could cause some problems inside the team?
Everybody knows that McAmis and Hayes are your dominant scorers, but there is more to basketball than just scoring 43 points in a game...........
I am pretty sure that the rest of the players on the team, wanted to win just as much as the next........I don't see how you question a kids heart and passion when they give so much time to the team, and still fought to win the game.

So assault is cool as long as someone else starts it...good to know. Oh and Wise suspended the kid that put McClung in the wall...what did GC do to their player? 

Personally I have not seen Lee High this year, but I have seen Central.  Central is very experienced and very long.  They start 5 seniors, and have 2 seniors coming off the bench along with some under class men that all are capable of playing good ball and giving the Warriors good minutes.They are very physical and play good help defense, and all 5 starters are capable of knocking down shots and scoring at any given time.  
Central probably will be a little tired from the trip to Florida and the Arby's Classic, but I don't see them letting this one slip by them.  Central by 10 to 12.
Better guard Hayes and McCamis tough, either kid is liable to go for 30+ on any given night.
I agree with you Burrell's Pearls, I hope the officiating is pretty good in this one, like you said could be a very physical game.  

Central beat John Battle 60-44, Behind a big game from Elijah Hayes with 23, the rest of the scoring was McCamis with 21, Bishop with 7, Allison with 5, and Trey Mullins with 4 points.
Central girls also won but not sure on the final score of that game.
Centrals Boys and Girls travel to Orlando today to start playing in the KSA Holiday tournament tomorrow on 12/19/19.

Scrimmages ok, but not a fan of the benefit game at all.

Central has improved as the season has progressed. They have 3 running backs that are capable of breaking a big run at any point and time.  Crabtree and Bolling both are special backs and a key to Centrals success. Not sure of the other kids name that plays RB, but he is a hard nosed kid that runs downhill as well. The passing game is not the best I have ever seen, but can't produce a few plays here and there.  As much as I would like to see Central win, I think experience steps in and leads Graham to the win.  Central is young, and has made a statement this year, and will be a very exciting team to watch for the next few years. With that being said I am gonna go with Graham 35 Central 20.

I'd concur with Luke Owens as COY.  In August, the Warriors looked to be no better than an M-7 also-ran.

Pulling for Central all day long, but sadly the road ends here I'm afraid.  Regardless, that other coach O (Owens, not Orgeron) should be coach of the year.

The playoff system is broken, and I think everyone in this area is aware of that.  I am no genius, but there has to be a better system that could be put in place to find the best High School football team in their division. I played in the late 90s and early 00s and it was unheard of for a team with a losing record to make the playoffs, and sometimes possible for a team 9-1 or 8-2 to miss the playoffs.  No system is perfect, and that has been proven over time. I feel until $$$$ is not the top priority we will continue to see the broken playoff system used.
Number of students plays a huge determining factor with where a team is placed in a division, and all over SWVA, numbers are declining due to our biggest industry being coal and a lot of those jobs have went away. How often are the numbers looked at and compared?
It is not only the high school football playoff system that is broke, it is pretty bad for all sports.  It needs to be fixed so we are not handing out participation trophies and being soft to make sure everyone doesn't get left out. 
I am sure some of these #7 and #8 seeds are thinking do we really have to go and play another week, knowing what they are up against.  Sometimes upsets happen, but in all reality do you really think the kids on those teams think they have a chance to win a 1st round game, region championship, or a state championship?

Wise will make the call. 
I need this game to be Friday night. My wife’s baby shower is Saturday at 1:30 and it’s been planned for a long time. I REALLY don’t want to be put in a position of picking between Richlands playoffs and a baby shower. Lol 

Easy to say Pollier is the best back in SWVA. Hands down.

Graham up to 18 penalties...I'm glad this isn't a drinking game...

Over at Breathitt we were standing at the fence and watched right in front of us as Cedric Mitchell was taken to the ground by his face mask with the official looking straight at it. He reached for his flag not once, but twice, but never threw it. That was just one of many examples of what went on. PV had a long punt return nullified by a phantom block in the back call. Robbins kept pressing the official for who did it, and finally the guy gave him a player number. Robbins thought for a couple of seconds and yelled at the ref that number ___ wasn't even in the game on that play. The ref just shrugged his shoulders. 

That could be good or bad, most of James Colley's Haysi teams were very good football teams from what I can remember.  All I can say is Paintsville better be ready for the ground and pound game and hope they are in good condition.  If Union can control the ball, and have some long drives and come away with points, I think they wear Paintsville down and pull away late into the game.  Sure glad this thing is being played at the park, and not in Kentucky.
I went to a few games down in Breathitt Co, and BIGWINNERS was along for the ride on a couple of occasions, and it was some of the craziest stuff we had ever seen.

We used to have a guy that had a truck horn mounted on an air tank.  Always loved that.  Only used it when we scored or made a huge stop.  Never did hear why we couldn't have it anymore at home games.  It seems to me that schools are just to sensitive about things and we have to make sure not to offend anybody anymore.  As much as I hated that blame train at GC or Pulaski, it's part of it.  What's next, telling the rescue squads to be quiet with their sirens and no flashing lights when Richlands scores? (I'm sure there are others as well)

I agree BigWinners, definitely proved me wrong!!! Shows what kind of heart and tradition comes from Appalachia and Big Stone Gap!! Congrats to the Coach Turner and the Bears!!!
