Appo outplayed them today. Well coached Raider team that over come their penalties and turnovers. Graham has a fast QB and a great WR corp but their lack of discipline was their undoing. The fake PAT was obvious when the holder kneeled inside the 5 to take the snap but no one was alert. Joey Dales made some big plays on offense and with his foot today. Appo had 2 90 yard TD drives on Graham even when Dales pinned them deep. The kid has put that defense in a position to look good and today they let him down.

Do you seriously not understand what he's attempting (poorly) to say or are you being intentionally obtuse?
Graham is obviously the best team in Region D, bar none. But if you compare the two conferences head to head, the M7 was better.
I guess the M7 #4 beating the SWD#2 meant nothing too, right?
The M7 had 3 of the top 4 seeds.
    Graham was 1-1 against M7
    Central was 3-0
    Union was 2-1
    RV was 1-0
    Abingdon was 1-1
    GC was 2-0
    Battle was 1-1
    Lee was 0-0
No M7 team had a losing record against the SWD this year, three teams were perfect against the SWD, head to head was 10-3.
Graham is CLEARLY THE BEST TEAM IN REGION D. There is absolutely no disputing that. But, if you're comparing the two this season on the whole, the M7 dominated the SWD as a whole. I don't see the issue here. It's not up for debate. You can put more weight in whatever ya want, who wins Region, etc... But the numbers show, head to head the M7 was better.

The SWD is weak and Graham has benefited greatly from it just like Richlands did earlier in the decade. The Mtn 7 is stronger as a conference because they develop talent from within and compete even if they don’t put a dream team together and dominate. The SWD is unbalanced due to the fact that there’s not enough talent to go around for more than 1 team to load up with.

Y’all got a damn good football team but the intelligence level is lacking. Nobody (myself included) has questioned who the best team was. Tonight the fourth best team in the M7 made it to the 2D final. The M7 has far more depth and is better as a whole than the SWD.

I can see testing paid or scholarship student athletes. But unless you’re looking for PED’s in High School , it’s really a fruitless endeavor. As long as testing isn’t school wide, it’s not gonna curb vaping, smoking or drugs. It’s just gonna deter kids from playing multiple sports or any sport at all for fear of being ridiculed by those non athletes who are free to do as they please. Having a testing policy for athletes is beneficial possibly for the sake of liability insurance , maybe schools that test get a discounted rate. I’ve always believed that student athletes should be held to a higher standard but the kids that are really deep into drug activity aren’t your multi sport athletes, it’s those kids with too much free time and no fear of having to pee in a cup. Test all the kids and you won’t see as many 1 sport athletes getting in trouble in the offseason. Their habits might change when they fear losing playing time next year for partying during the offseason.

My G-Men do need to work on their running game in order to become more balanced. However, they are averaging 35 points per game. The adjustments need to be made on defense. If they are scoring 35 points in a game, they should win with all of the returning starters that they have back on defense. If someone would have said prior to the season that Graham would average 35 points per game for 10 games, most of us would say they would be undefeated after 10. The G-Men have only lost 3 football games in two years. Twice to Bluefield and once to Union. As a Graham fan and alum, I think we need to just let the coaches coach and continue to cheer for our team.

Offensive strategy should be based on personnel. You have to create mismatches and put the defense at a disadvantage. Graham has speed and size at receiver and a speedy QB. When your QB is a run threat , you can run deep routes and open up running lanes for him. If you wanna make the  running game click , you need variety. Go under center every now and then. LB’s get an easy read from the shotgun, especially if they get a quick read on the guards at the snap. Union made the T work and work well , it’s not outdated football  it’s smart football. Spread teams aren’t better coached , they rely on having more speed. That’s why when teams with slower skill players try it and can’t stretch the field, the run game suffers.

Eersfan got a reaction from GMan in Trenton Adkins, is he even stoppable? Over 1000 yards in 3 games!
Grogg. The night Beaver ran up the score, Grogg chose to kickoff after Beaver scored several 2nd half TD’s. And they were shunned by the Coalfield Conference which made it tough on scheduling games. And a lot of those Wyoming , Raleigh and Fayette county schools made it tough on Beaver in other sports for years after that. One year Bluefield was thoroughly beating Liberty Raleigh in a playoff game and a rash of Beavers started coming to the sideline after being poked in the eye. Eventually the trainer went on the field after a Beckley area officiating crew and drew a 15 yarder for speaking his mind. Grogg had some influence up that way and he used that game in 2003( I think it was) to gain some sympathy and some allies as well.

Eersfan reacted to FoxTrot in VA High Down year
Va High lost 11 starters on defense and returned 2 on offense. One thing people don’t understand about Va High, is they have always been able to throw out a few athletes on any team. Even when they have had talent, the culture of winning in the football program has really never been there.
They won in the late 80s but if you compare to other programs in the last 20 or 30 years, Va High is happy to make a playoff game.
The last 2 years, VA High had a talented team, but the winning culture for football in the community isn’t the same as baseball!
Even though talent is young with sophomores and a couple freshman, a winning culture has to be created from within.  Kids have to be held accountable and pushed to higher standards, and until that changes, VA High will be mediocre even with talent!

True lebanon has those numbers, over half the roster are Freshman and Sophomores. That is the issue,  they allowed  the program to almost die before they expanded the youth league to help numbers.

There’s always that “ he’s just a kicker “ argument. But when you take a look at the whole picture, the game has changed to accommodate offenses. Turf fields, rules changes , spread offenses , poor tackling and passive defenders. I remember thinking what the Peoples kid did a few years ago was untouchable. But every Saturday morning , you’re reading how some kid at almost any school has put up 200 plus yards on the ground. Sometimes carrying 30 times or more. I remember a kid at Pikeview running for 350 a couple years back. You guys are giving Beavers defense too much credit. They looked horrible tackling, trying to strip the ball on every play instead of wrapping up. The APC, twitter and FB has made these kids household names but they still gotta show it on the field. Martin and Davis sat out the whole 3rd quarter. If kids like RJ Buford and Jake Lilly would’ve had the hype that these kids have backing them, they would’ve been D1 easy. Give Levi Forrest credit, his accomplishments on Friday are universal for any era of football. The ball still has to clear the line and travel wether into the wind or with it.

Jones performance was more impressive because that defense’s only key was to stop him and if memory serves me correct , He was injured on a negative yardage sweep in the 2nd quarter . He sat out a good 10 minutes of the game then came back in and put up 150 plus yards in the 4th
