Seems like if Dad is the expert he should be coaching a team instead of coaching from the stands.

Her dad played professional baseball and has more knowledge in his pinkie finger then any coaching staff on this end of the state  and apparently a lot more sense, then to try to put a kid at risk for injury

If it were me, I would have done the same thing. She has already committed to UNC and she plays an extremely difficult travel schedule.  It's not worth risking your college career because your High School Coach values a win over a kids well being.  I trust that decision in this case.  There is nobody in this area that has worked harder at her sport then this young lady.

I agree with this. I obviously don’t know the extend of the entire situation or what the actual facts are but the young lady is very talented & definitely works hard at her sport. There no denying that. The folks I know from Tazewell area, say she’s one of the nicest well mannered young ladies you’d ever meet. I normally don’t agree with quitting a team mid season but her dreams are bigger than TN High. Good luck to her at UNC.

TN High had a very talented team.  The one thing they were lacking before Comptons arrival last year was pitching.  Just looking at the box score and watching a little of their games on YouTube, what should have been a very good lineup hasn't been very good at the plate either.  The only other D1 prospect on that team is currently limited to defense only due to a back injury.  She could possibly be D1 in basketball or softball when healthy.  Other than that they have a lot of D2/D3/NAIA kids.  Plenty of talent everywhere but one key spot, but not putting it together at the spot most would expect this year even without Compton who really made that lineup tough at the plate.

Hold up wait a minute dude you're all over the place you once lived in Richmond (I don't have a clue where you live now) claiming you know nothing about swva and how the area breaks down and now all of a sudden you know about the area, you know about the Compton kid and how hard she works man I'll believe there's still Santa before I believe anything out your mouth

No matter how you slice it, there are always two sides to every situation and the absolute truth is usually somewhere in in the middle and there’s not a single villain, or hero always in a situation. Needless to say it’s a shame. Regardless, unless it’s an abusive situation, quitting should be a last resort. (Not ruling out the possibility.)
Again, I don’t know any specifics, but blurred lines between parents and coaches are often at play. The situations intensify when talented kids are involved and/or those with financial means.
I know wrong board and wrong sport, but it makes me take notice how well Graham football walks this tightrope. I suppose football being more of a team sport instead of collective individuals.
Prayers and good luck to the family and coaches in this situation.

Good, since I value your opinion so much..... Spent time in New Jersey too...but they invented these things called automobiles....about 100 or so years ago that sort of helped me get there. and flying machines too, they call those airplanes   I believe there is an option on here to mute somebody.  Try that...it would do both of us a favor.

Ho Ho Ho.

Being good at a sport rarely equates to being a good coach of that sport. From what I've read in this thread it seems like the player should have just stuck to travel ball. Playing for a high school team can be a huge difference from playing for a travel ball team.

Just heard from a pretty reliable source that UNC told her if TN High started to pitch her every game that she should tell them not to and if they don’t agree she needed to quit.

Maybe he knows the family ?? I’d say a lot of us know a lot of the athletes and some of their family members from SWVA & southern WV and some of the folks on here probably a few from east TN. I have lived in WV,KY, & VA and know folks from everywhere I have lived.

If true, they are protecting their investment which I don’t blame UNC. I still don’t like to see a kid quit a team but as I stated I don’t know all the facts.

When I tried to give him the breakdown on how things worked down in SWVA he had to point out he had no clue about the area, how things worked down here, made it known he's from the Richmond area but now since basketball season is over he's trying his hardest to stay relevant pretending he knows the area and folks in SWVA now. I believe he's the real Sasquatch before I believe anything from him

Bull Crap.  I said I didn't know the living arrangements of every kid in SWVA.  I've been posting on here for 6 years about SWVA. I don't claim to know everything and that's exactly what I said.   I'm getting sick of the personal attacks.

Not to get in the middle of all this but I don’t remember anyone attacking kids from JM personally just the way the team gets assembled every season.

Just my two cents Real Sasquatch actually knows more about these kids and sports in our county/area than most people realize. There is no pretending on anything with RS, straight up.
