This part right here. Fans for the most part are adults. Talk crap to other fans who are also adults. Say what ever you want to the coaches that is just part of the job. Heckle the officials not that it helps but if it makes you feel better go ahead they know what they signed up for. Dont say a word to the players.. These kids are 16 17 years old you are a grown ass man let them play. Now the players shouldnt be talking to fans either but at the same time they are playing an emotional game and are still children. I blame the dude that had one too many natty lights before the game and "paid his 6 dollars"

Depends on who the hostility is directed at, opponent's fans, players, coaches, our own, or officials.
I hear quite a few insults hurled at officials and our own coaches from the Union fans on a weekly basis. As far as hostile to the visitors, it would have to be GC back in the day, and even so recently. I heard some GC fans yelling at the Radford players after the game last year, calling them cheaters. No reason for a grown man to be yelling at teenagers just trying to play a HS sport. It's different if they're on your lawn. haha
Nicest place would have to be David Crockett. Very nice folks there. I will say that I think Richlands and Union have a mutual respect for one another. I've had several friendly ribbings with random Blues fans over the years, and they've all been great.
The all around just sucks place has to be Central. From students yelling racial slurs to smack talking fans or just beyond rude gate workers. Can't stand going there.

I would say it will be smart if anyone who has officiated or does officiate never puts an answer on here to this question.

2004 was the last time they started 3-0 I think they have a great chance of starting 4-0. I am glad they are moving in the right direction its not good for a team to be down for that long. 

I say, let the winner of this years game determine who coaches going forward.

In 2A Union is just a different atmosphere than any where else I've been. When Bullet is rocking its hard to go in there and get a win unless you are Appo. Even though I am sure it was different when they were making deep playoff runs but Gate City is also tough just for the fact the the visitors stands are right on top of the field and it is full of blue. Ive been there when the student section was on the away side which was different for sure. IMO no body is the southwest has much of a home field advantage. Tazewell, VA high and Marion really dont have the crowds that make a difference. Graham plays in such a big stadium that unless they are playing Bluefield it just feels empty. Richlands would be the best I guess but its no where close to Union or GC.
I have said on here before Chilhowie has to be the toughest 1A place to play. The crowd is rowdy and they usually always get the bounce of ball plays when they play at home. I dont know this for a fact but I would say Chilhowie has the widest gap in winning percentage for home and away games. I could be wrong but they dont usually lose at home. Rural Retreat is a dark horse in this conversation. The atmosphere feels a lot like Chilhowie it may just be a mascot thing but who knows. I've only been to Giles once but that was an experience for sure. You really do feel like you are behind enemy lines on that one.

I hate to say that for the kids that are there and want to play but that is also hurts the seniors of the other side that now have one less game they get to play.

I agree you don’t generate half the force from 5 yards in a ground and pound game as you do from a safety running 20 yards across the field to make a play.

"old school" football leads to more bumps and bruises but modern spread football leads to a lot of serious injuries. More speed, more space, more force. 

This is very true! a few years back a 3-7 VA High had to travel to Appo which is just dumb! The region format is much better for travel overall. I do really like the cross bracket between the M7 and SWD much better than going by pure power points. Most of the district games are played at the end of the season so hypothetically lets say Marion was able to get the 8 seed and Graham was the 1. They would have to play in back to back weeks and neither game would end up being pretty. At least now that 3-7 8 seed gets to go somewhere new to get blown out in the first half.  
There are pros and cons to both. Travel favors the region set up. Less rematches favors east west. I honestly believe the east/west format put more importance to getting a 1 or 2 seed because those teams where not tested until the 3rd round while the 4-12 seeds where more competitive games. While in the region format we have better games in the second round. There has been a number of 1 and 2 seeds get knocked off early in region play that we did not see with the east west. 

The Cincinnati Reds …..er Central Warriors win this one 27-21.  That being said, Go Canes!!

Having seen it in person, the scoreboard did not reflect how lopsided that game was. Marion dominated all three phases of the game, and penalties were the only thing that kept that score respectable. With Richlands doing what they did to Gate City, I think it's safe to say that the SWD is VERY deep this year.
Also, for most people this goes without saying, but never take the scores of benefit games as an actual barometer of a team's abilities. 8 days ago Chilhowie topped Tazewell and Marion was routed by Fort in benefit games, and now we know that probably wasn't the best reflection of any of those teams. 

What’s your biggest surprise of week 1? For me it was the thorough dismantling of Chilhowie by Marion.
