I think/hope it was the inexperienced secondary players playing a we aren't sure what this team is going to do defense.    I don't think its too hyper critical of the defense.  13, when one score is a kickoff.  short field due to turnovers, some apparent personnel problems in the last few days at Norton with an us versus the world thing kind of going.   RV has to kind of expect the best of every team this year.   They did what a good team should do, not panic when someone counter-punches back but continue to punch themselves.   Curious on the players quitting or being booted, but knowing the ship that Coach Mullins runs, maybe there was some selves instead of team guys.   I'd dare say at least one or more was on special teams due to the problems there.   

That’s an a Burton that’s will go 8-2 at worst. They are a good foot team that could beat half the Class 2 schools around here. 

Barring injury.. he will have a target on his back.. praying he stays healthy.

Adkins will be a 2,000+ yards back this season. Maybe 2,500 - 3,000.

Abingdon  went very vanilla against Patrick Henry. Basically only playing the first string the first quarter, and then began subbing, and still put up 53.  I'm sorry but Martin Lucus is going to run all over Battle.  Abingdon by at least 3 TDs. 
I think teams are going to find Abingdon a lot more physical than normal  this season.

Adkins will not be sharing carries so I think will he put up monster numbers. His teammate Sproles will be a monster on defense.
Brown from Patrick Henry should have a monster year. Whited from Eastside is a threat running and receiving.
MLB from Chilhowie is a stud along with Bellamy from Eastside.

Webb was drawing double teams from the jump vs GW in a scrimmage last week. .May not get as many touches as a Lester or an Adkins in that offense , but will be in the conversation at years end.   

I agree! Didn’t even think about that. I’m hearing that they got another freshman RB, Brandon Dowdy I think is his name, they’re saying he’s suppose to be something special.

I never understand that about coaches sometimes. If I got a younger kid who's as good or better than a Upperclassman I'm rolling with the Young Buck. It would of really helped RV if Phillips would have got his experience last year. I'm excited to see the passing game against Tazwell it will be a good test because they will have some good Athletes playing the DB position.

Nick will be fine by the end of the season you will be wondering why he wasn't the qb last year

Every thing I am hearing backs that up I think Phillips will be fine (probably better than fine) there is no doubt that is will be the fastest QB that we have had in the backfield since the school opened. I know he has a strong arm as well I just want to see his dissension making and whether our WRs can catch a pass in a game before getting to excited LOL.
 
That being said a QB that can run puts ALOT of pressure on a Defense.
 
Personaly i look for the Tazewell scrimmage to be all about testing out the WRs and the passing game as well as sliding in as many backup running backs to see which one sticks as our #2

For me it is reservations more than pessimism.
RV is replacing ALOT of skill players several who were 3 year starters. 
RV will be replacing there QB and that is always an unknown. 
The Bright point on there team (Outside a Adkins) is there line which is bigger stronger and deeper (Overall) than any RV team up to this point.
For me until I see how the New QB and skill players work out I will temper my enthusiasm.

I bet Goforth saw everything going down on social media last night and saved face by changing his story when interviewed today. If he told the family what WJHL and WCYB reports he said then why would he temporarily deactivate his Twitter account? I believe he banned Chris from everything, then saved face today through the media after he realized the people in BSG were gonna go after him and his job was in jeopardy. I’m just proud of the people sticking up for Chris and even the people not from BSG. 

Still the only one i see worthy of a D1 is Lester! Meadows is only getting interest because of his size! Martin will eat his lunch! Kastner and Edwards good lb’s the rest are window dressing! Average at best! Booker slow and can’t hold on to the ball. Dude you are a dreamer! Hold on to it tight

Don't sleep on Abingdon's Martin Lucas.  He's bigger, stronger, and faster this year.  Also he's only a Jr.  The kid has put in work this past off season

It will 100% continue. Brady is going I to law school in NC this fall, so we are still working out how it will all work with that aspect. 
But both of us will be back, and we are planning several preseason shows like we did last year going over several topics. 🙂 

When was the last time a local team with that much D1 talent started the season 0-1?

GC has a couple of bigs to keep an eye on. Gibson & Calhoun have serious potential - hopefully Calhoun will get to carry the ball some, too.

Richlands has the most wins in this area code in the last 15 years and played for a state title 3 years ago and played in a region championship last year. 
They may not be title contenders. But to say they aren’t in the upper echelon of the SWD?? That’s just funny.
