Emory and Henry might be getting their best football recruit. He's D1 AA (FCS) or small FBS (mid major) in my opinion. E&H is getting gold with this recruit if he ends up there.

I actually love what John Marshall and Coach White are doing. He's getting kids in school whether it through AAU or school ball. Maybe having those kids there with him is a better situation for them. We can only speculate what's going on. If the parents have those kids enrolled there then so be it. This happens here in Charlotte every year. The only difference is down here we have 20 public schools in the city. there are numerous other surrounding public schools as well as charter and private schools. Kids transfer all over the place from year to year.

Richmond, VA, is like Charlotte, NC. It's called open enrollment.  This means, if you live within the Richmond/Charlotte City limits, you can go to any school you choose as long as you get yourself to the school.  The cities have school boundaries, and JM has its own boundary, but if you live outside of that boundary, but still in Richmond, and you want to go to John Marshall, you can go as long as you provide your own transportation.  Open enrollment is done because of parents that work around the city and they work perhaps in an area Other than the district they live in, so they can drop their kids off while going to work.  This ie one reason for open enrollment.  Academic reasons are another.  If a parent is unhappy with the academics of the local school boundary and they want their kid to go to the top school in Charlotte or Richmond, they can send them there as long as they take them.  One of the goals is to increase competitveness academically for all schools within the city.
The problem or downside.  When 1 school has an AAU, NFL, or major Div 1 connection on the coaching staff.  The best athletes will often flock to this certain school, and the danger with a large city is......there are a LOT of kids to choose from.  How does it work in Charlotte and other cities like this around the country.  It's like Waccamole with success.  One school has the coaching connection and gets the kids and dominates, then the coach leaves and that school falls off and another school rises to the top and takes the reigns, then that coach leaves and another school comes to the forefront.  We've seen it in Charlotte over the years and how it rotates with first Independence, then Butler, onto Providence, onto Catholic, etc, etc.  The coach at John Marshall will not be there in 3 years.   He will be in the college ranks and you will see Marshall slowly fall off, and somebody else in Richmond will gain a coaching/AAU connection and they will rise up.  
John Marshall is within the rules. Their coach is doing his job and doing a good job.  If folks are upset with it again.....blame Richmond or the VHSL.  John Marshall and their staff are doing what any other staff would do, if in the same situation.  

No Taylor from Tazewell and No Dolin from Graham is crazy to me, but outside of those two, it looks good. There's just no way to really know or tell about kids in the East like King William, Poqouson, etc. Glad the running back from Central Woodstock was on there. I bet the Gmen fans and Graham defenders would agree with him being on there. That kid is a downhill runaway trash dumpster bringing great anger and bad intent at the point of contact. He was also a Nasty linebacker and made lots of tackles against Graham.
One final thing. The Sawyers kid from Graham is the most underrated at Graham High in the last 10 years. I think he can play big boy football on Saturdays. Just my opinion. 

There should be no transfer portal in high school sports anyways. Kids don’t realize that high school is most importantly preparing you for college and it doesn’t always revolve around sports. I’ve heard from many of people I work with that Graham reaches out to kids to come play for them and that they also offer gear as if they are a college program.

Hell guys. Everybody will make all district anyway. There will be 20-24 players named to 1st team offense and defense.

Anybody that knows me know that I'm a diehard G-Man but am I wrong is my observation that Va High NEVER shifted their line or linebackers to the strong side when our lead blockers shifted to the side that we were DEFINETYLY running the football. I'm glad they didn't shift and I'm not sure that if would have mattered with the way our guys were blocking but not making an adjustment is just crazy.

North Meck and Myers Park will both be tough games for folks. Myers Park is loaded this year with plenty of size. Elijah Strong 6'8 F, Sir Mohammed 6'5 G, Sadiq White 6'7 G and South Meck transfer Bishop Boswell 6'4 PG all have major D1 offers on the table. Strong is the only senior in this group.
North Meck has the #16 ranked recruit in the country for the 2024 class in 5 star Isaiah Evans 6'6 G

I think the QB+WR duo at Ridgeview is better than Tazewell’s. 

It's Billy's son on the team. Brandon has all girls. Walter Kennard's son is also with this group of guys. They will be tough to deal with a a couple years.

If I live in the Richmond area and I am a good AAU baller, and my friends that I play AAU with go to John Marshall and my AAU coach has ties to John Marshall, and considering Richmond has open enrollment, then I am for dang sure going to attend John Marshall to be around my friends and the program that I am with in the summer, and now able to be around that program in winter.  I can't blame any young JM player or parent.  I would do the same and it's actually very smart to send your kid to JM, if he's a good baller and has next level ability.    It really comes down to fair competition which is one of the goals of the VHSL, or at least trying to make it where competition is fair.  John Marshall should be made to play up a couple of levels as long as they are winning titles and competing in an open enrollment city.  The same applies to any other school in the state of Virginia that competes in an open enrollment city and wins a title in ANYTHING, girl's basketball, forensics, etc.  You compete in an open enrollment city and win a state title, the next year you move up 1 to 2 levels of competition in that sport.   John Marshall is well coached and solid players and they could have won the Title this year Arguably at the Class 6 level.  They would have been in the mix.  They are fun to watch.

My G-Men do need to work on their running game in order to become more balanced. However, they are averaging 35 points per game. The adjustments need to be made on defense. If they are scoring 35 points in a game, they should win with all of the returning starters that they have back on defense. If someone would have said prior to the season that Graham would average 35 points per game for 10 games, most of us would say they would be undefeated after 10. The G-Men have only lost 3 football games in two years. Twice to Bluefield and once to Union. As a Graham fan and alum, I think we need to just let the coaches coach and continue to cheer for our team.
