They wouldn't be the "lone 4A school west of Blacksburg" but then again, everyone forgets Carroll because....well, it's Carroll! With that said, Carroll is a prime example that avoiding isolation from an enrollment perspective should be a key consideration when planning for consolidation.

Imo Castlewoods numbers would see a slight increase if any. most parents who want their children at close schools are already sending them to Russell Co. If the school board was increased to 10 members then 2 positions was very reasonable. $ is tight in Norton, like it is all over. Like Eastside, its just a matter of time.

................and if the kid from Honaker can shoot from the perimeter like we have been told, the opportunities for Zac to drive to the rim will increase. ................and if the kid from Honaker can shoot from the perimeter like we have been told..........Mac drives.......defense collapses on him...........we should have two great shooters wide open on the perimeter. Really hope the rumor I heard yesterday is true. Not sure it will happen, but if it does, GC will be getting another addition to the basketball team....a high-caliber additions.

Jason, I think that as Gate City improves on the field, the numbers in LL will grow again. It makes no sense to have practices that spread out. The numbers should pick up a little when the Sullivan County consolidation starts to happen.

Good showing is game 1 for Mac in Vegas. 9 points, 2 assist, and a steal in 16 mins. Plus this.

Personally I believe if Eastside were to ever close the numbers at Castlewood will see a very minimal change. The folks around SP who want their kids to go to Cwood instead of Eastside most likely already have them there.

That is somewhat surprising. I will say 247 seems to be sliding somewhat in the recruiting game IMO, not related to this at all.

    Another to soon goodbye

Michael Watkins who was a member of the Virginia High School Bearcats football and baseball teams, graduating in 2016, tragically passed away Sunday morning July 23rd from an auto accident. My pastor, preached a message about our life which resonated deeply in my spirit. He ask the question, "What is your message"? Will your life be a story, few may tell, or will it be a message that you have lived and will impact others? Here we have two young lives gone to early, Brandon Looney and now Michael Watkins. From what I gather these young men left a message with their short lives. A message of dedication to their sport, goodness, goals to reach for and most of all a love for their Lord. I heard this song today and I thought how appropriate to share with their message. It is by Masters Voice and is entitled "How Long A Lifetime Is." This is a portion of the lyrics. "Never take the day for granted, cherish every memory No one knows for certain what the next tomorrow may bring So hold your love ones tightly, treat each moment as a gift Never know how long a lifetime is" REST WELL MICHAEL AND BRANDON
