Agreed.  Softball is quicker pace and shorter games.

Well I did hear something recently about Front Porch Store and Deli paying top dollar for NIL deals recently making the Clinchport/Fort Blackmore area a prime destination for top softball athletes in the area... 

I remember being a young child out in the dusty coal fields, just tossing a softball into the air, hoping for a chance one day to play meaningful games.
One day my father walked up to me, straight glare, breath smelling like Miller Lite, and said, "if you work hard and continue to get better, me and your momma will uproot us to the city of Clinchport to give you the opportunity you deserve."
One tear ran down my cheek as I looked to the sky and saw an eagle. I knew at that moment that I would soar with the Rye Cove Eagles one day.
I never got that chance though.
I think about it daily. 
 

Even though I have migrated to Tennessee high school sports in the last several years as that's where I live now, I still keep up with and follow the Virginia side on a regular basis as well.  This site gave me the idea to create the Mountain Empire High School Sports group on Facebook as a way to talk high school sports in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia.  Well, as it turns out, most of, if not all of the 368 members are mostly SWVA folks anyway, including some of the folks from here, so if y'all want a place to come and chat sports, the door is open over there as well.  Just send me or the wife a request.  We'd be glad to have you.

As I've mentioned recently during basketball season, the few times I've went to Ridgeview sporting events over the last couple of years, the fans bellyache over everything:  referee calls, referee non-calls, Abingdon being in the M7, Central and Union just existing period.  You name it, they're going to gripe about it.

So based on that we can surmise that Ridgeview fans whined about the score, Union fan got mad at Ridgeview fans and threw down....
Although the actions of Union fan can't be excused here, but still.....

Video is on Facebook and Twitter.  Doesn't show who or what started it though.  I've heard a Ridgeview parent made a racial slur, but I've also heard a Union parent was making fun of a Ridgeview kid.  I heard a Ridgeview fan broke 5 ribs and broke his pelvis.  Also hear charges are pending.  What's most shocking is the woman who gets shoved down by the main aggressor in the brawl and seems to smack her head on the pavement.  That dude, whoever he is, is not cool in my book.
 

Word is VA High decided not to reup with Central and in a round about way replaced them with the mighty Jenkins Cavaliers. They always play a tough schedule over there in Bristol 

This is close but hancock Co is where you have to be 30 points better just to beat them by 7

I bet those Kentucky refs can count to 12.

Kingsport has the M7 and Cumberland standings in it daily, as that's the only two districts they cover along with Virginia High.  This is what they have for baseball:

Abingdon 11-4, 9-0 John Battle 11-3, 8-1 Wise Central 9-5, 6-4 Lee High 7-7, 3-6 Union 7-10, 3-6 Ridgeview 5-8, 3-6 Gate City 1-12, 0-9 Cumberland:

It's the county school in that area that is the bigger program so to speak, Bell County.  They haven't won very many titles, but they usually play pretty deep into the postseason yearly.

Everyone knows the refs are better on the other side of the Cumberland Gap tunnel.  I don't know what y'all are talking about.  Lol

That kid is pretty good. He has the ability to make people miss in space is better than anyone playing class 2 ball in SWVA IMO. I am sure Graham people will throw Clements out there and he is probably a close second.  He made quite a few contested catches as well.

Then I saw his rushing highlights and wow. He hits the hole fast and you are not catching him once he gets to the second level. 
Put this kid on any roster in the coverage area and they become region contenders. The fact that he makes plays receiving rushing and returning kicks makes him a lot to deal with
 

Yes it’s Grant and I would add him in as well. But he wouldn’t be at the top of my list.  I think the whole country needs an overhaul starting with the school board and superintendent. Then take it from there. The problems go further than athletics even though that is the public face of the school. 

This is one of several reasons that ALL bos and school board members need to be voted out this year. (With the exception of Hackney, if he’s running again). 
Will that happen? I doubt it, so it’ll continue. We have the nicest campus in the state , but the administration is crap. 
That goes for superintendent and useless directors of everything.
