This thread is so old, it used to smoke Salem Lights back when they were still called Roanoke County Milds. 

OldLeb51 never even got back to posting his opinion like he said he would. I mean he’s had 19 years , what’s the hold up?

This reminds me of the fact that I have yet to see a proper try out/ competition for any key position since I relocated to the region.  This is just my RV experience.  It seems as if positions are already decided before the season begins and I really think it is a disservice.  It is like competition is avoided at all costs.

No, it's not. There would be a problem IF....again....IF it's Union and Radford wants it at Salem and Union says hold up, that's further than Radford by a good amount and we ain't doing that. If....again....it's Union or Graham or whoever, the D school has some say in the game not being FURTHER east of Radford, but not nearly as much say if the game is around the Radford/Bburg/Cburg area or closer west, for example, Mitchell Stadium. 
Hers the thing though. If you are Turner or Palmer and Radford proposes Salem which is further than Radford, do you say no? I would bet, the answer would be..."yes." Why? If you are Turner or Palmer, what better way to have your kids familiarity with Salem and what "could" be. Your tell your kids, 'see this field, work your ass off today and you are right back on this field in 7 days playing for a state title." So, even though Salem is further than Radford for a Union, Graham or Ridgeview or Tazewell in the semi's, it's still very tempting for the Region D teams and not easy for them to say "no" when you consider the possible benefits it can provide your kids.

Hearing from various places, some of which are longtime coaches in the region, isn’t the same thing as “making a comment” but you do you boss.

A little known fact about Harry Fry is people from BSG approached him about setting up a youth football league in BSG. He was more that happy to oblige, and in 1970, BSG's "P-Nut" league was created as an emulation of GC's.
That says a lot about the person Harry Fry was.

The Dawgs will:

-lose focus and squander lead.
-regain focus and win going away.

I think Graham wins this one easily.

I love this post. Not only you speaking out about it, but for a kid who doesn’t think his status of a football player is better than a band member. 
I’ve always been a fan of music, never was a band member, BUT, music is a very hard skill to learn. 
Now on top of learning how to play music, you have to learn how to read music, then memorize it, then learn the marching formations, movements etc. now let’s put it all together. 
a lot of people don’t give band members credit. Those kids put in WORK!

We have to agree with the Hokiebird. That Senior leadership, and juniors, is the work ethic they display at practice, the off-season weight room workouts, and encouraging freshmen and sophomores when they don’t do it right. Coaches can only take a team so far, the rest is up to the players. 
 
1Wingit23, Uncle Percy says you must be a Madden Football expert which qualifies you as a clueless dumbass in football. Now old Hokiebird7 can definitely get on one’s nerves at times. However, after reading your comment, the Hokiebird7 definitely knows more football than you.
