Congrats to Radford, the better team won.  They out-played and out-coached Graham.  They have good senior leadership on that team.  I'll be pulling them next week.

No excuses at all. Clements was the best player on the field, and Graham absolutely deserved to win this. 11-2 with a bunch of sophs though, I'll take that. The future at UHS is very bright. Go embarrass Raddy G-Men:)

A little history for you young guys, James Poss Bolling won the 1st state championship at PV , everyone knows that , he also vowed to be win one the resign which he did and left the shelves stocked full from the peanut program up. He insisted that all the programs run the same plays as varsity. He also took a non existent weight program( 1 weight machine max 240 lbs) and built it up. His asst. coaches were Bobby Couphlin and future D B coach Graham Clark , so yes he only won 1 state championship but man he poured one heck of a foundation for Phil to build 7 more Championships on!!! Phil has said as much

I dunno, it’s so hard to gauge right now because Union has not been tested at all whereas Graham had the tough fight with Bluefield. 
 
If Clements is healthy, I can’t see any 2D teams being within two scores. 

I thought we’d win. I really did. Much closer game than 27-6. Was 13-6 in the 4th and Union had the ball. Just couldn’t quite get over the hump. I didn’t love play calling at times but even when we had our stuff executed they were on us pretty quick. It’s tough to teach the speed that defense had.

Coached me at Powell Valley, d and linebackers coach . Maddox was the head coach and he was his asst. seems like he also coached the girls basketball too and they may have won state??? Great guy
