If it’s his son and the kid threw his helmet down, then I’m sitting out the crucify him mentality . If it’s not his kid then that changes the dynamics of the situation considerably.

This has become a huge problem for Lee High basketball. There are some talented kids at Lee but have not been playing because of the coach. I was never a fan of the past coach but if one truly loves the sport it should not matter who the coach is.

It’s easy for us to say coach/player situation not father/son looking as someone not part of the dynamic. If  you’ve coached your own kid at the high school level and always maintained coach/player mindset in every circumstance , then kudos to you but I’d say that’s harder said than done. All the coaches I know that have coached their own kids expect more from their kid and are harder on them. I’m not saying it’s fair to the kid but it is what it is.

Well there are two teams close to each other that should be in class 2 and not 1...

My wife is a teacher and I've worked in education for 23 years. I would disagree.
Being a classroom teacher with constant student interaction from 8 am to 3:30 pm, plus bus duty days with little to no breaks, M-F, in addition to using your planning period to remediate students and call parents.
Then, grading papers and answering student and parent questions throughout the evening.
I'm sorry but assistant principals don't even come close to that level of continuous work. You might argue that they deal with parent complaints, but these days, most administrators dodge, deflect and refer parents back to the teacher. If they don't, then the teacher gets yelled at, still not escaping. Remember, everything flows down hill.

It has been 68 days since this job has been open the fact that it has not been filled should be alarming to fans and players. If they are hiring from outside there is a good chance the coach cant get there until the end of the school year but why wouldnt you go ahead and announce it so the guy can get to know his players even if he can be there in person. I am not sure when the next school board meeting is but it has to be soon. regardless they have let at least 2 meeting come and go without putting up a name. At this point it is a lose lose situation for who ever gets this job. The hire is probably going to look like a bad one in year one just because the guy is going to have 3 months to develop his players where everyone else has been working since the end of last season. Hopefully the patient and understanding fan base of Wise Central gives this guy some time and is not calling for his head after one bad season.

Reading story on Bandy, knew he had transferred from Richlands, but didn't realize who his family was.  I knew his grandfather James, his great-grandparents and his grandfather's sister.  Small world.  Firm I worked for did accounting work for James, his father and their businesses.

Call me sentimental, but I miss the grass field.
Now, I wouldn’t want to be responsible for upkeep, but I wholeheartedly believe that natural grass results in fewer injuries. I occasionally miss the dealing with the elements when a team that relies on power suddenly has an advantage when it comes to rain, snow, and mud.

I didn’t see any fall athletic appointments on the minutes for March 11th, probably next time fall may be appointed.

Couple of things to mention as they were friends of ours and the loss still hurts just as hard.  They went to Wisconsin to visit another sister of two of the girls killed to bring her back to Burkes Garden.  Micah is the survivor that was born on Easter two years ago (my wife had to go over to Pearisburg that morning to get the midwife and bring her over).  Byler family is devastated losing a wife, two daughters, son-in-law, and a grandchild.  He is a Deacon of the community so faith will carry him through this but still such a tragedy.  If you went into the general store, you knew Delailah as she was always so friendly and welcoming to all.  Orla was her brother and was always so helpful to anyone that needed something.
Everyone of them are good people that will be missed.  Only good thing I can say is that there were almost two others as they had just been dropped off right before the accident happened or it could have been even worse.
I love seeing the support come in from everywhere and all those that have donated and provided.

There is also an account set up at First Sentinel. GoFundMe takes an absorbent amount of the donations for themselves. I don’t donate through them if there’s an alternative.

Tell them to pressure wash the schools, while they're at it.   All 3 buildings could use a good cleaning on the outside.

Smart choice in my opinion, but that's looking at it from the outside. Each person and situation is different and unique and there is no one size fits all. Kid's a baller and from watching him a few times, tough as nails.

I assume the reason for the voting being so skewed away from one district is solely due to the timing of the All region meeting. Historically, In 1d it has been on Semi finals night before the games have completed. if it is the same for 2D, that might shed some light as to why the votes do not favor the winning district.

I don’t agree with it either but just like how we were talking on another thread that it’s all just politics. Upperclassmen always get put on over the talented underclassmen (which Graham and V high both have large amounts of underclassmen)
