And these days, colleges don't come find athletes like they used to. The player has to get out there and put all the effort in. So maybe he's not putting himself out there enough, or the right way. Heck maybe he doesn't wanna play in college. I know nothing about him.

Bears need to resist urge to get fancy. Just pound it. If you mess around and throw a pick you may get behind on scoring.

If they are running a 3-3-5, that’s not necessarily a bad idea.  That is designed to combat a passing offense; however, if this was the first week they practiced that…then it’s not the best idea.

This is what I was curious about.  Skill and talent wise Lebanon is a threat to Union….a big one.  My concern was whether the coaches would unleash thei matchup advantages. I’ve made a career out of watching RV shit the bed because they valued their system more than their athletes.

Doubt it. Younger brother will be QB1 next year. I’d say a bit of the reason they transferred to Leb because they knew he wouldn’t start over Lowe

And I also think that the talent gap won’t be as extreme this year against Union as much as it was last year against graham

I’ve got Union by 14-21 with the following:
Can Lebanon isolate Jesse on an OLB in the passing game?  If they can and have a good screen game…that could be painful to deal with and could function as part of the running game. Pick on the OLB with the least coverage skills.
Will Lebanon use motion to dictate favorable matchups for Baker.  If Union wants to flip Bostic with him, Lebanon can muck that up with motion or, heaven forbid (looking at you RV) put Baker in the backfield and run routes from there.
Lebanon should avoid running off tackle…I think they’re better off keeping Union honest by pounding the ball. If they can get 3-4 yards on those that can set up play action for Reece….if they use it.  Ridgeview rushed for over 200 yards and most of that was between the tackles.
Lebanon has to gameplan to move the pocket with Reece….make #45 and 11 move laterally and not be able to rush a static point…11 moves well laterally but 45 not as much.

Lebanon will stress the D and knot the stomach of Union DBs but odds are they throw at least one pick and in order to beat Union they have to be +2/3 in the turnover battle and -5/6 in penalty count.  Those are long odds ….especially  at BSG where the crucial calls always be curious.
If Lebanon walks out a defense with two high safeties….or two safeties at all..it’s already over.  They should pick something and commit to stopping it and if Union makes them pay…so be it. Better to die aggressive than passive.

I don’t know that Lebanon has any guys as fast as Kam, but they are a legitimate offense regardless of the level of competition. They have QB1 and top 3 RB and WR as well as a couple of speedsters.   I’m surprised by some of the predictions on here with them having only 14 points (except for the Va High homer who needs to change his name. ) RV had a lot of opportunities in the air but a QB who couldn’t take advantage, if Union busts a couple coverages like they did the other night Reece won’t miss.

I 100 percent agree with the consensus that Union will win this game on the strength of their offense and Chandler.

Speed certainly kills,  but still gotta have good beef up front and a scheme to put the ball in their hands effectively and consistently while trying to remain balanced enough to keep opponents honest.

And for the record, I’m for every young man being held back. They need that extra year of emotional ( and physical) development.  Sports is an added benefit. Our young men are entering a society and workforce that has been feminized and positioned against “toxic masculinity”…whatever the hell that is supposed to be.
It’s harder out there for them.  We have large portions of our society that detests the blue collar workers…the miners, the welders, construction, trades, trucking…so it ain’t the worst thing to use an extra year to raise them and instill the values they will need to go forth and prosper. I held my boys back just for that reason and I’m glad I did.  We had enrolled them early and I really wanted to “fix” that later on…so I didn’t get an extra year per se…just got the year back that I foolishly gave away to the education system.

So, here is my biggest frustration if I were Union’s fans.  You have an offense screaming for a handful…..hell…three or four…play action fakes.  Geezus… hard play action would be devastatingly effective.  Make it look exactly like one of your bread and butter runs. I promise…I promise, promise, no LB/DB will resist biting on it.

I’m going to caution against a couple of things.  Reece is mobile…and the best way to wear out a pass rush is to move the pocket and have them chase him. There are schemes to punish an aggressive pass rush.  If I’m Union, I might push the pocket up the middle and have the DEs play a slow contain rush.
The other thing is Union will not have the luxury of playing their CBs 10 yards off.  I’m never sold on a DB being elite until I see him flip hips and cover. Baker runs legit routes and hopefully Lebanon staff understands the value of motion. RV couldn’t do anything about that soft coverage last night…I think Lebanon will be better suited for that. And lastly…I’m running Jesse at #2. Full stop…hard gameplan. Great player…but finesse. Make him feel the game.

Union will get their pass defense checkup next week for sure. RV had theirs against Honaker last month.  Very good experience as it stresses your defense in a way they don’t usually face.   Like I said earlier….it is so much easier to play pass defense on 3rd and 7 then on first down or 3rd and 1 against a team that can and will throw whenever they want to.  Lebanon will stress test your LBs and safeties more so than your corners.
This is such a great opponent in that it is a dress rehearsal for Glenvar should you see them down the road.

I'm a big fan of Reece. Very much looking forward to seeing him next week.
Also, can't wait to see how the Graham, Lebanon, Va High mash up goes as they battle each other.

Haha okay mr. hardcore badass, peace out. Coming on here with a screen name a ten year old picks out trying to deride a bunch of HS kids and pick a fight with a guy every other poster respects, of course you’re gonna get checked. You could have easily made whatever point you’re attempting to make without being ridiculous but you obviously wanted to get on here and act silly. Cool, you’re a wild and crazy badass. We get it, you’re hardcore bro, we just buncha sissy men.

I’m not your homie, kid. Those were three brutal calls….put the film on. I’m sure RV would have traded them for your “illegal touch”.  If you were at that game with any sort of rational and clear eyes, you noticed it.  Maybe not you so much because your side benefitted from them.

The three missed calls weren’t penalties and wouldn’t show up in the stats after the game, homie. I shouldn’t have to explain that to you….but here I am.  And, for the record, I didn’t take an ass whipping and you certainly didn’t give one.

There’s always some revisionist post commentary after a win but here is about as fair a take as I can do about this game.
    1) I tried to tell you before the game that RV’s athletes and speed were top notch. They have the skill positions. They just don’t have the LOS.
    2) I also said that they were undersized at a couple of positions and could use another DL.  You saw that tonight. Without going into details..two positions really hurt them tonight on defense.
    3) They have a lot of young starters..particularly on defense. And, whether any Bears fans wanna admit…RV was physical…especially for the size disadvantage. Chandler got banged up a couple times. I can tell you #1, 13 and #54 were hitting dudes.
    4) RV has to move on from their current implementation on offense. They just aren’t getting the results from a 4 wide offense. It totally takes away any possibility of play action fake….which is damn effective.  If they insist on going four wide…they have to implement true RPOs..like Honaker.
    5) Deel is good tough back. Don’t know what his numbers were but he was getting good yardage. If RV had him a couple years ago…they probably get by Graham.
    6) Difference was LOS size.  Hard to give up 40-50lbs on average.  I’m not sure why RV can’t get more size out.
7)If you are going to beat Union you have to be aggressive with play calling and chances and win the turnover battle.
8- The officiating was really poor guys…sorry but it was and it played a factor….not enough to determine the game but this wasn’t a three score game.
    9) RV needs more depth. They rely on too many two way starters. Union has good depth.
    10) I’m withholding judgement about their pass defense.  I have my theories and we will see what Lebanon does next week. Let’s just say that Union has the benefit of playing situational pass defense. It’s easier to play D on 3rd and 9 than it is against a team that will and can throw it well on a 3rd and 1.  Baker may present a challenge.
    11) I’ve still got Union getting out of the region unless Snake Palmer can rig up a sweet game plan.
