Whether it is 10 years ago or 30 whatever a parent allows the teenagers to do and if the school coach doesn't get admin support a certain style of coaching does not matter. For the programs that have accountability and discipline they probably have strong admin support and the parents understand the coaches program and support the said coach. Kids push boundaries, adults set boundaries. Adults now are more flexible and giving so the kids push further Jags52, Union_Fan and Gridiron60 3 Quote

I am not saying anything bad about how someone was raised but each generation the line gets moved just a little bit more and more until we are where we are now. Quote

He just couldn't connect with the boys. One of my favorite leaders in the military was a 1SG Jones. I was one of his platoon sergeants and he was hard on us but that cat had an energy and charisma about him. I busted my ass for him and took my ass-chewings with pride. I had my platoon squared away and Top (what we call 1SG) pulled me aside and said "Keep that shit up....you're the standard now. I need to focus on the other platoons but I'll be on your ass if you slip an inch." Hooah!!! Our platoon motto after that was "Never slippin'!" and every time we sounded off with that he would yell "Damn Right!" I found out near the end of my tour that his younger brother was Walter Jones, the All-Pro OT with the Seahawks. Dude never said a word about it but had a small picture of the two of them in his office. The point is that building a connection goes a long way in how much your team or people will put out for you. cityofRaven, tornado99, Union_Fan and 3 others 6 Quote

TnT+h Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Why 3 years? Not enough talent, coaches or schedule to tough? Quote
Jags52 Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Seems to be the pattern at Marion. I think it’s going to tough sledding to start with. All the assistant coaches are gone he is literally starting from scratch. I wouldn’t say the talent is bad but the talent discrepancy is much more than he use to. And the fans will grow restless real quick. I hope it works out for him but Marion is a tough job in general that’s before you take the job over in May, with no help, and this being your first job Quote
TnT+h Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 What happened to all the coaches? Hard to fill assistant coaches without jobs! Quote

You are correct the seniors that just graduated I think were one of the last ones to play little league before they went to flag breckt 1 Quote

If I remember correctly Marion's 6th & 7th grade team played in a championship game against Chilhowie this past Fall. They have some talent coming but it will take a while for them to contribute to varsity. Quote
