  1. As a Marion fan, I can relate to Richlands. Ever since NAFTA and American Furniture shut down, we've had a hard time keeping quality couches down here.

  2. I've heard that Union's got so many couches that they can't afford to pay for them all.

  3. Get those boys a couch then! 😂

  5. Longest Active VHSL Playoff Streaks in SWVA (I think): (1) George Wythe-16 (2) Galax-13 (T-3) Graham-12 (T-3) Union-12 (T-5) Abingdon-9 (T-5) Patrick Henry-9

  6. They get burned a lot, that's why.

  7. I agree. He had a pretty good outing against Galax throwing the ball. Work on spreading it out and tossing it around, if you can. Jennings can get some good reps in too at RB. Graham needs to demonstrate a good passing game to keep teams from loading the box on them. If Roberts continues to have time to throw it and work on his progressions, it will make Graham even more dangerous.

  8. I really think Graham cruises to a win unless they revert back to the game play of the Bluefield game. The biggest question mark at this point is Clements. Will he be healed enough to play? If he is, do they even use him or wait until week 4 against Union. I’’d personally give Roberts more opportunities to air it out. He’s steadily improving.

  10. In 2004, four teams from Region C Division 2 made the playoffs. The winners of three districts received an automatic bid with the fourth bid going to the top "at-large" team: Giles [8-2] (Three Rivers Champ); Lebanon [9-1] (Hogo Champ); Grayson Co [5-5] (Mountain Empire Champ); Floyd Co [9-1] (Three Rivers Runner-Up) George Wythe [9-1] (Hogo Runner-Up) was outpointed by Floyd Co for the final spot.

  11. If you're counting PV with Union you have to count Appy too. Both had some bad years before consolidation but not sure if there was a season both missed playoffs

  13. Glenvar was 9-1 back in 05 I believe and didn’t make it either. Back then if you wasn’t the district champion then you wasn’t going to the post season.

  14. Based on what I glanced at, Graham had a couple of misses in the late 2000s, but has the longest 2A streak tied with Union in our coverage area. Graham missed in 2010, and hasn't missed since. Union started football in 2011 which is when Grahams streak started. If Union and PV are considered the same, then I think Union/PV goes back to 1991 which is by far the longest. In 1A, it's G. Wythe 2006 for the coverage area. I glanced at fourseasons. Someone would need to take a serious look to be sure.

  15. If Union and P. Valley are counted as the same, I believe they go back to 1991ish, don't quote me though. I through 2021 out. Just take that off the table. P. Valley might have missed the postseason after 1991 through 2010 once, but I can't recall it happening. If PV/Union aren't counted as the same, then there's some research involved. Off the top of my head, G. Wythe may be the leader going back to 2005ish if PV/Union is considered different. Until a year ago, Richlands would go way back, long before 2005, maybe I yo th 1990s, but they missed out last year. Graham had a miss around 2007ish, and take away that one, and I think you have to go back to the 1980s as their last playoff miss.

You could write this exact same thing about OQuinn at RV.

  17. That’s the key right there. Union can NOT be intimidated going into this.

  18. Much rather win but that would be an impressive moral victory for Union. I know it’s 11 vs 11 on the field but playing a school that much larger has gotta be a little bit intimidating for the boys

  19. Like i said before tazewell has get sharper on offensive. At times they look good and at the look flat. Riverheads executed. Riverheads did everything right and came out victorious. But I like seen both teams healthy. Good luck to the gladiators.

    Week 2 Updates

Phoebus beats Oscar Smith 16-2, maybe 18-2. I forget the exact, but it was something close to that. Phoebus moved back up to Class 4 this year. Mt Airy, NC, with another win. 3 games so far for the Andy Griffiths. Scores are 58-0, 49-0, 56-0. All 3 games could have truly been, 100-0. This may sound crazy, but Mt Airy is so dominant this year that it's very possible that ALL of their regular season games result in a running clock situation.

  21. GW will be competitive in 1A this season, but they don't have enough to compete with larger schools. Graham rolls!

  29. Lots of good performances this week. I’d like to add Huff from Union also. Had 6 catches for around 80 yards and aTD, 1 pick on defense, couple of big returns on punts and heard his name called on about every tackle on kickoffs

  30. Rivalries sometimes will make a game closer than it should be but this won’t be the case this year

  31. Hope so! But this game is crazy at times!

  32. The fact that Tazewell didn't have Taylor and Creasy obviously played a big part. Huge losses. With that written, Riverheads didn't have their superstar either. Graham would take Riverheads completely apart imo this year. That Riverheads team and I said this earlier, like Central Woodstock, is Not as good this year. Tazewell will go 7-3 with losses to Graham and Princeton. Princeton is the real deal. Tazewells not beating them.

  33. Dawgs have a better team than showed up today . Riverheads has a long way to go before they gel . Best of luck to both teams the rest of the way.
