  1. I was chatting with someone from this site last night about some of these girls playing on the same AAU team. I was also talking to the dad of one of the girls mentioned in this thread a few times. He has been a close family friend of mine for 38 years. His younger daughter is only an 8th grader and plays for the same AAU team as a lot of these girls. We have some seriously talented girls coming along that are learning how to compete from a lot of the girls mentioned within this thread. I've said it for years on this site, football gets all the attention but girls basketball and softball are by far and away the most consistently dominant programs across SWVA.

Yeah, really shocked Fiser wasn't first team running back for sure.

  7. One to look out for in the next year or two will be Bailey's sister Brooklyn Frazier. Already has a 19 point performance against John Battle last night as well as a 17 point outing against Grundy in this, her freshman season.

  8. No particular order. I named 12 instead of 10 though. Bailey Frazier (Ridgeview) Dee Cvetnich (Central) LeeAnna McNulty (Honaker) Peyton Carter (Abingdon) Sarah Thompson (Gate City) Essence Brown (Galax) Taylor Owens (VA High) Emili Brooks (Union) Breanna Yarber (Patrick Henry) Nikole Counts (Ridgeview) Brook Porter (Central) Olivia Mullins (Central)

  9. Love how you say "everyone" in a thread that had one reply prior to yours...........but I digress! Since you quoted me with your response, here is mine! The first category in my original post lists players I have seen. Which should be self explanatory given the heading of that grouping of players in my original post reads "The one's I have seen play in no particular order." The second category is clearly labeled "The following were either 1st or 2nd Team All-State a year ago as underclassmen." I took that information directly from the VHSLCA flyer distributed in late March. Bailey Frazier is listed as a senior in that email. If that isn't the case, the reigning Class 2 State Player of the Year would be most deserving of any list of top players from our region. Dee Cvetnich was not selected as an All-State performer last season which, given the heading of the second grouping of players on my list, would disqualify her from said list.

  10. This time of year can be so hectic! Folks are stressed out with late minute shopping and in a rush! Merry Christmas my friend to you and your family! I hope you can enjoy some leisure time and rest with your family!

  11. You don't owe me an apology or explanation. I owe you one! Very difficult day yesterday dealing with state bureaucratic BS and it seeped into my post. Not offering an excuse. It is what it is. From what my friend was telling me last night, those girls can play. I need to get out and see them sometime before the end of this season.

  12. Rematch for Region D this year? Unless there is a complete meltdown, I don't see anybody in the region that can take down Graham or GC.

  13. 8 of your 12 are all in the same conference. Whichever team survives M7 and Region D will have truly earned it.

  14. Cvetnich is a senior this year....watched her play the other night against Gate City and she ended with a double double.....played pretty decent!

  15. Strange! The first pdf you shared doesn't match the email I pulled my information from. Then again, the email lists Bailey Frazier as a senior and spells LeeAnna McNulty's name as Leanne McNurry. Go figure. Pretty much those players listed in this thread are the cream of the crop for SWVA. Some serious talent.

    Slagle out for Union

That's just plain awful. I was really hoping he could finish his Senior season. I did get to see him play twice this past weekend at Sullivan East & he looked good. I wish him the best moving forward... Keep your head up young man.

  17. Actually, Dee Cvetnich was selected first-team all state by VHSL & VHSCA for the 2017-18 season as a junior. 2018_gb__2a_all_state_teams (1).pdf Scan Dec 19, 2018.pdf

  18. Congrats to Blfd on the win. Graham didn't have a presence on the glass to compete with Blfd for 4 qtrs. Also, Graham has a player that was a turnover machine. Hopefully that will be corrected. Graham should roll thru the majority of their season. Go G-Men!

    Changes for 2019

My preference only. 1. Go to 5 classes or levels of play. 6 is to many and I know this ain't happening and not even considered 2. Continue to play the semifinal game at the highest seed like it currently is. If we have power points, then stick with it. Also, I don't like the turf field thing as a requirement. Why not mandate that all semi games be played on natural grass and not turf? The turf thing makes no sense to me and I don't think it should matter. If your the higher seed in the semis and you have a ugly muddy grass field, then that's where it should be played as it was earned under the current power points system for 10 recular season games. 3. Definitely decrease the teams from 8 to only 4 in a region and add an extra season game for a total of 11 regular season games. This will not happen either. 4. I dont like crossing regions in the semis. For example, can you imagine Union playing at Poquoson or Bruton traveling to Gate City for a semifinal game? That's crazy. Last of all, I admit nothing I prefer will happen and everything I don't want to happen will. When it's all said and done, we will have all turf for semifinal games and a neutral site and regions will cross bracket in the semis even more than the A vs B and C vs D, and the amount of teams will not drop from 8 to 4 making the playoffs in one region, but that's ok because the GMen are state champs.

  22. who?

    Akers Out at GC?

AD needs to go and then gc will be really rolling. People forget it was rat and Roberts who were so against Jeremy houseright that they hired Akers as a default. Chickens coming home to roost. If reed gets job...there will definitely be some egos clashing with hc and ad.

    Goodbye Big Creek Football

Iaeger in 2008 I believe. It will be Bradshaw High School right? We played Big Creek in basketball yesterday and i talked to some of the players and they're all really sad about losing their team. All the ones I talked to aren't very happy about combining with iaeger either.

    Slagle out for Union

Unfortunate situation for this kid. Torn ACL, second year in a row for the Bears starting center! I want to wish Wes the best of luck in whatever he chooses to do and for a quick and speedy recovery!! I hate to see any kid, from any team injured!
