If I did that every time I said something "out of character", I'd be a hermit. Can't live life in the dark behind a closed door... Sometimes the words that come out are truer than most people want to hear or believe...if you said something that people got pissed about, it is more than likely their problem, not yours...

I have no idea what is bothering you, or why you are beating yourself up. You certainly seem to have always had your act together, and gave wise advice to others. I am probably twice your age and more. There is very little that I have not seen or witnessed over the years. God has been good to me, and I will always be thankful to him for all the blessings he has bestowed upon me. Have I ever been down on myself? Sure. That's when I need my spiritual guidance to help me. There are times in life that we go through that seem helpless and unforgiving. We do not know what tomorrow has in store for us, we can only hope that what ever comes our way, we will be able to deal with it. Life gets tough at times. Don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes all I need is a talk with our Holy Father. Poor it out, My Friend. He is listening when no one else is. As I look at the world today and see all the problems of terrible hurricanes, homeless people, wars and rumors of wars, well my problems are small in comparison to what many folks are facing everyday. Would they trade places with me or you? You bet your boots they would. It is good that we take the time to evaluate ourselves at times, and see if we are headed in the right direction. Sometimes the olé ship may need to change directions, or rethink just what we want out of life...... What is really important in this short life on this place called Earth. Relax, My Friend and have a serious talk with God. He will give you all the answers. May God Bless You!

Great City, I apologize for quoting you with my previous post You only offered your honest opinion of how the Blue Devils could have kept the game competitive. I was unable to make it to the game but know that the final score was 45-7.....so I thought to suggest that if GC would have continued to throw the ball it would have made a bit of difference was inaccurate......well my assessment could be false. The facts are GC is 0-6. They have scored a total of 48 points, given up 218, and been shut out twice, as per Maxpreps. The last five years, GC has went 29 and 35, inwhich 2014 they had a 11-3 season. The previous head coach walked away. The entire coaching staff, with the exception of Coach Akers, walked away after last year. I won't mention DBs QB being a GC kid or the other obvious GC athlete not playing football. I may be way out there but it appears obvious something is wrong. I hope you can accept my humble apology.

Y'all are just now figuring out what a cancer he is. As a long time fan of the hogo I know parent's and coachs at RR. He demoralized the kids and coaches everyday. Mocked previous coaches and the schools tradition. Even coaches still on the staff. Alot didn't help after just meeting him in initial meeting. Come to find out he applied for job because he had been offensive coordinator at previous "big " school. But actually only was OC for half of 1st quarter before HC took play calling away. He's a cancer and his repercussions are still being felt at RR.

That's not exactly how I take it. Once Barry arrived, PV was 7-0 in title games, and 0-1 once he left. Truth is, he maintained an intensity and focus on Defense that was not matched from the time he left until PV closed...and it was projected on and through the guys that played for him. There is no doubt in my mind that had he still been the DC in 2004, PV would have gone 9-0 in title games instead of 8-1. Under him, players were always put in a position to make plays and win games. Wasn't always the case once he was gone.

What are you talking about? I see no denial in his post, he said straight up GC got dominated at the LOS and their only shot was to air it out but the staff didn't go that way.

I’m gonna take a few steps back for the next little while. I said some things that were highly out of character for myself tonight, and lost my cool in a way I’m 100% not happy with. It’s not who I am or who I want to be. I’ll still keep the pickem up to date. I’ll decide on the Podcast after the weekend is over, but I feel I need to put myself in the penalty box. Well, he hasn't changed any. His whole career at GC has been a crap show that sounds just like that. Things are starting to add up week by week.

Think you took my post the wrong way. I have previously posted that Akers is finished at GC. Is just a matter of time. He is not respected by the kids, and has alienated fellow coaches, and administration.

A-Cris Carter isn't dead And I hate when people act as if Jones was solely responsible for PVs run in the late 80s-90s. It's not like PV had a juggernaut offense with two future NFL players and tons of All-State guys right? It was 100% defense, PV couldn't do anything on offense, it was all Barry Jones' defense. :/

Ask Phil Robbins how many state championships PV won, he will say 8, he will tell you he won 7 of those while he was head coach, I will tell you as good as Phil was, he Never won State without Barry Jones......enough said. As a deceased ESPN anchor used to say "COME ON MAN" it's football man ,and I am sure that those kids heard a lot worse on any movie they go to or watch

Cooper looks pretty good throwing downfield. Mookie dropped one that hit his hands would have been a TD and the other one that went to Mookie he caught in the third quarter for a 51 yard TD. Both throws were very good and right where they needed to be.

Gate City Football is dead and gone. I've attempted to articulate the issues that lead to its demise as well as provide realistic solutions. These efforts have been met with ridicule, confrontation, and open hostility. I'm as sick of talking about it as folks are of reading the posts. Bill Quillen, Brent Roberts, Mike Lane, and Chris Akers have the football program they deserve. I wouldn't be surprised if Roberts had the statue melted down for scrap. Roll out the basketballs in GC.

Barry Jones is the man. He deserves better than Volunteer High.

It sounds like a sad excuse, but richlands fans are not used to losing. We have done very little of that in the last 15 years or so and we aren't very good at it.

Ryan, we've all been there. I got like that last season when Giles played Marion. It happens man.
