No to Cross Bracketing. I like the idea of BEST IN WEST vs BEST IN EAST....plus the limited travel without it. 7.5 from Hampton to Big Stone Gap. I had to seriously think about that one this weekend and I chose to stay home and stream.

It's a weird balance of power. For most folks, Marion and Chilhowie is a friendly, almost sibling like rivalry, although for some folks it's very personal. Northwood HATES Chilhowie, whereas most Chilhowie folks don't even consider the Panthers to be in the same stratosphere as Marion in regards to a rivalry. And then you've got Marion/Northwood which is really only a rivalry by technicality. Marion had a pretty healthy rivalry with R.B. Worthy/Saltville many, many moons ago, but they rarely played Rich Valley past 1970 and had a very happy relationship with the Steers. In fact, it's not unusual to see groups of Rich Valley alumns at Marion for football games rather than Northwood, because 30 years later, they still haven't accepted consolidation and would rather cheer for Marion than a "Saltville team."

Those two are four year starters and will not be easily replaced. My thoughts are, replacement by committee after talking to someone I grew up with on the coaching staff. If they can manage to do that, the rest of the roster is returning pretty much fully intact.

I agree completely with both points. Somebody is going to get left out no matter what and sometimes the strength of conference hurts...PAC12 There are plenty of arguments to be made for several teams and it's the same as here in state. There is no perfect solution. Just have to work with what we have and it gives us plenty of fodder to complain about on the message board!

Alabama couldn’t help that the SEC West + Tennessee + FSU were way down...and even then, Alabama beat MSU and LSU (to whom Auburn lost), which both spent time in the Top 25. People seem to forget this...

Where does everyone get that the Championship game has to be the 2 best teams in the state? In no sport is the focus on determining who is second best...the focus is on determining a champion. If you really want to watch something where first runner up matters, I'd suggest beauty pageants. East vs West is fine...I would like to see the alternating of sites the semis between C&D and A&B, though.

That’s patently ridiculous logic. Obviously (or what is obvious to anyone with a functioning brain), it is certainly possible for districts and regions to have lopsided amount of quality and talent compared to other districts and regions. It is quite possible for Essex to be a better team than Chilhowie, but just have the misfortune of being geographically placed too near to Riverheads. In fact, believing that Chilhowie is better than Essex may be grounds for involuntary committal under the Code of Virginia. How about this: let’s have a tournament between local pee-wee teams where the winner meets the winner of a tournament between Virginia 6A teams. Surely, the pee-wee team that wins its bracket is the 2nd best team in the whole tournament because it played for the title. I’d think you’re a master troll if you didn’t have the history here that you do.

As a Rich Valley/Northwood guy he is pretty well spot on! I am one of the HATES chilhowie people. I am really conflicted about this game, on one hand my Godson is a Senior for chilhowie on the other I can't recall a time that I have EVER rooted for them to win. (didn't want Galax to win either) I guess I will do as I did last week, not attend the game and pull for the other team, to not win.

Chandler Cooper can throw a football over 50 yards. Truck Edwards can throw Chandler Cooper even further. When Truck Edwards crosses the street, the cars have to look both ways. The grass is always greener on the other side, unless Truck Edwards has been there. In that case the grass is most likely soaked in blood and tears and littered with opposing defenders.

Best vs best is what we have....called a state championship game If everyone thinks two teams are the 2 best then that's just their opinion IMO

If it's time to head out to the ballgame at the very last minute on a Friday night/Saturday afternoon, and your wife/girlfriend wants some "hanky panky", do you stay to make the fairer half happy and risk not making it before kickoff, or do you say, "To hell with it!" and head for the stadium? :)

About the topic of the thread, I met @BearDawg @Union's hammer, @Unionguy_2017, @jarhead24219, @Ryan4VTand @BoBob from Appo on Saturday. Saw @redtiger as well, but I already knew him of course due to our days in the big Red Army. :) I sat on the Appo side because I needed to save 5 seats and didn't have any room over on the home side, and actually sat near Bo Bob who remembered me from 2 years ago in Salem. Thought that was pretty neat, he's a good dude. Quite a few "Richluns" fans on the Appo side as well, as noted by the Appomattox faithful. So, when Union played Abingdon, did something happen for Union to make Abingdon fans mad, other than the beatdown they got from Union? I sat near a few Abingdon fans and they were definitely NOT pulling for Union. So, just wondering...

I did the best I could to compile the schedules together again. I have pinned them at the top of the board as usual. There's a few that aren't complete as I couldn't find team schedules for those teams and had to piece them together. There's a few teams I'm only missing a couple or so games. If anyone has missing games or corrections, as I'm certain I've made mistakes, feel to free send me or someone who can modify posts, and we'll get it fixed. And again, I will try to update some scores along the way, but I'll make no promises about it being well updated...some help would be appreciated.

I look for Tazewell to win the Southwest District.
