Never heard of a coach stepping down like this during a tournament run. Strange to say the least. Worst kept secret in Wise County. Wild career that involves various incidents that overshadowed a pretty mediocre coaching career. God bless whoever gets that job. They are 5-6 years away from competing for anything and next season they could finish dead last.

Thanks for the info, wish coach Mance well in his new position. Hope he is as successful there as he has been here. God speed to him and his family. Some of us true blue fans will be checking up on his new program and wishing for the best.

My second born is actually excited about the prospect of going up against Grundy wrestlers at the 3A state level. He is currently in 8th grade, so depending on his own performance he should have that kind of shot before he finishes high school.

The last time I was in Myrtle, we were watching Jim Furyk win his only major championship at a golf themed restaurant. That should be a good indication of how long it's been sine I was in Myrtle. It was supposed to be a buddies golf trip but a coworker invited a random guy we didn't know. The guy was an absolute POS! At this restaurant, the guy had way too much to drink, fell through the plate glass window in front of the restaurant and wound up in jail. The coworker who invited him, tried to help but ended up talking himself into jail as well. The rest of us left them down there and came home. Haven't spoken to either of them since. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! I'm not much of a "beach" person and neither is my wife. When I do go toward the beach, it's generally Edisto, Hilton Head or St. Simons.

For a consolidated school in Buchanan Co. You can NOT go wrong with this^^^^^^^^^^^ Black/Gold...Black/Silver...Black/any other contrasting color...I personally would opt for the Black/Silver

3 Dollar General stores within 2 miles of Loris High School, but only 1 Subway. They need to get their economy in gear.

I would say by the time this goes through the numbers will be closer to 2A in Buchanan Co. And to go along with that, kids will more than likely end up at a closer school such as Phelps, East Ridge, Ridgeview, Honaker, River View, Richlands, etc, which will reduce numbers even further.

Hate to see Mance go, Top10 ever in SWVA Sounds like hes stepping into a VERY nice situation, one that will help his retirement tremendously. Best of luck to him

Thats grey and its terrible (I despise grey as a main color, I HATE teams that use it when its not a school color) along with a terrible shade of yellow. Now this is where its at. Brown and a nice Mustard yellow, Western Michigan uses Old Gold and it looks pretty good too imo

It's OK to go visit for a couple of hours...bullet proof vest gets too hot in the summer to wear it much longer...but would prefer Cherry Grove in North Myrtle 1,000,000 to 1. Prefer Sunset Beach 1,000,000 to 1 over Cherry Grove. Just sayin'...

I don’t mind the district being played at the 1 seeds home court. That’s the reward for going through the regular season and finishing on top. If anything was to ever change I feel like it should be on a neutral court but not a rotation.

I like Copperheads or Rattlers. If you become the Rattlers you buy all the baby rattles at Wal Mart and take them to your games at Big Stone Gap.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I have grown to respect your opinion as well. NC has definitely positioned themselves better than VA in recent years in virtually every aspect. Statewide growth has proven that over the past decade. VA population has stagnated at 0.4% while N.C. is growing at nearly 8.5% a year. Politics aside, VA has been its own worst enemy.

Dixon could possibly leave Galax at some point but it won't be for money. At least not money for his wallet. Money being put into a program may sway him. As far as recruiting, Galax has always had kids from out of city / out of state. Nobody cared until Dixon started winning football games!

Yeah... let’s go ahead and take that third name off there hahaha. I don’t pretend to think I could coach lol. I don’t know even nearly enough. IF — and there a big if — Thad wants to come back, I can’t imagine he won’t be given the keys to the kingdom. And Blues fans would welcome him with open arms.
