  1. Union was uncharacteristically undisciplined this year, but Graham may have been worse. It cost the Bears the Paintsville game for certain, and allowed several scores in other games. I think the only thing standing between Graham and another state championship is undisciplined play. Get that under control and they will get the win Saturday.

  2. Powell Valley would have been Division 2, which is the equivalent of today's AA. That being said, Riverheads is an AA team in A clothing.

  3. Without going into a massive post, unless this year's Appo team is as good as the 2016 one, I think Graham wins because this year's Graham team is as good as that 2016 Appo team. Especially, on defense. Just show up ready to play, and don't make the "TD called back" penalties. Might not get a 2nd chance this week. Good Luck GMen!

  4. Augusta County has a wealth of knowledge on how to strategically redraw boundaries! Maybe Mercer County could reach out for assistance?

    What if...

We also had a negative punt. That's the coldest I've ever been in my life. It snowed up there again in 2010 but thankfully wasn't nearly that cold.

  7. I found nothing specific requiring accessible seating on both the home and visitors sides. The links below address the percentage of accessible seating in relation to overall capacity. It could come down to a local building officials' determination if the stadium is compliant. VHSL has broad power and could order a venue change if it didn't deem a facility suitable. This relocation could occur even if a facility had been determined to have met the minimum ADA requirement. IIRC, the DOJ is the top enforcement agency pertaining to ADA by working complaints through the court system. Smyth Co Schools made a number of needed upgrades as a result of a suit. https://aluminumbleachers.com/aluminum-bleachers-ada-compliance-issues-need-addressed/ https://aluminumbleachers.com/ada-bleachers-wheelchair-access-disabilities/

    Graham vs Appomattox

I don't believe so. I'm pretty sure it's just as long as you have some somewhere inside the stadium it's compliant. It's been on the Richlands side for decades until we built a secondary one on the visitor side last year. Tazewell recently did it as well.

  9. A dad of one of the players told me Graham will be traveling day of the game which is a good decision in my opinion. Let’s hope the weather is nice as far as precipitation. I don’t particularly want to sit through another cold & rainy game plus the field is grass. Don’t want a mud bowl either.

  10. Matthew Hatfield‏ @hatfieldsports Of the 24 teams that made the 2018 VHSL State Football Playoffs, a total of 12 are back in 2019 Essex Galax Goochland * Graham Heritage-Lynchburg Lake Taylor Lord Botetourt Maury North Stafford Riverheads Stone Bridge Westfield * Goochland moved up from Class 2 to Class 3. Three of those teams - Heritage-Lynchburg, Graham and Riverheads - are defending State Champs. Seeking their 4th straight state title, Riverheads has the longest playoff win streak at 15 games. great state

    GALAX?

I was misleading too lol I wasn’t thinking about Galax having a rb with the last name Brown too. Zach Brown is PH’s running back that has been out. I knew he played yesterday since I seen that he scored a couple of touchdowns but I didn’t know if he had reinjured himself again

  12. Im picking Graham in this one. Not impressed with Appo's offense. Theyve not put up many points against their above average competition. Defenses look pretty even. Barring any crazy turnovers or penalties i say Graham 38-24

  13. Those pesky band parents out here influencing kick-off times!!!!! Seriously though, nice to see a later kick-off to allow for All-Regional band tryouts to conclude!

  20. Whomever wins will most likely face 1 of the best football teams I've saw in single A besides maybe Giles in the mid 90s or The 96 Ph team.. Riverheads is just cranking out talent....I saw 1 great semi game at Emory looking for another 1
