Same can be said about Graham. I think there was a little excitement about beating Bluefield in that first game, but Bluefield is 0-3, Tazewell is 1-2, Richlands is 1-2. Not impressive wins by any means at this point. Tonight will say a lot about both teams. We will find out if they are studs or duds.

Final Scores from Thursday night in VA Essex 52, Franklin 14 Poquoson 21, Tabb 7. Essex and Poquoson. Essex might be the King William 2021 equalavent for Class 1 in 2022. This may be the year they beat Riverheads in the state semifinals and advance to the state title game. They have a once every 10 year type of talented football team and beat King William last week. It's usually Riverheads then Galax, and Essex a distant third in Class 1. That's not the case this year. Poqouson also returns 18 starting positions of 22 according to the Daily Press and had a near miss last week against 5th ranked 3A York last week and Poqouson bested King William in a scrimmage (I know, only a scrimmage) game early on in what was a repeat of the Region A title game from last year. I made this post because I made a similar one early in the season last year about King William. There is similar "hype" with Essex this year and there's been hype with Essex before, but the team they have this year is a bit different.

Putting in disc golf course at Bluestone...that'll draw in more things. Also, someone just opened a disc golf shop not far from there just west of the Stop-In on 460. To be honest, I am a bit excited by both. As long as they keep the 4-wheelers out...they do nothing but destroy the environment in their vicinity. Besides, there are more than enough trails in Pocahontas and over the line into WV. Town of Bluefield already owns two swimming pools, neither of which get used to their full extent. As for the ISC at the McCann lot...all's shitz and giggles until the next big rain event that puts that lot 3 feet under water. I can't see anyone wasting money like that, not even Tazewell County.

Union’s backfield can’t get enough praise this year. They’re always solid but they’re a lot better than I expected them to be. The freshman Chandler can block and run the rock. Satterfield and Honeycutt are both hard nosed and get downhill quick. I’d hate to be opposing defensive back having to meet them for a solo tackle! They’ve got some decent depth too, that Lowery boy who scored against Burton has some speed. I only hate the Bears when I play against them, otherwise the folks of Big Stone are good people. I played across from Lomax since middle school when he was on the line, tied with him in a 100m dash back then too lol. Funny guy and a hell of a ball player, not afraid to admit I’ve been on the receiving end of a few of his crushing hits. 😅

He's up to 3rd on the RB depth chart there. 2 of their 3 RBs (Chancellor Harris - Tazewell) are SWVA products. If I were an FCS school, I would establish pipelines in places like SWVA, where the talent is D1 quality but frequently overlooked.

If so, I honestly won’t miss the incessant blowing of the horn. Turner fired? Turner is a good coach and consistently produces good teams and wins games. Why else does everyone dread playing Union? If a coach is doing something detrimental to the program or some egregious act as coach, okay maybe a petition but a petition to get Turner fired seems a bit extreme to me but I’m also an outsider looking in .

The first time I went to BSG to watch Graham, there were Union fans, students I presumed, sitting on the visitor side when we arrived. They yelled and talked crap to fans and players, specifically using the N word regularly in a derogatory way towards Graham fans, players, and coaches. That made me think Union did not have any Black players. I was wrong with that assumption. I was appalled at those young people. I wanted to shut them up myself, but being a grown man I of course could not. That was my worst experience as a fan.

Back in the day, there was no place worse than Gate City. Hostile and aggressive fans would sit next to the visitors' section, circle the track, or hang around the opponents' side concession stand. They'd incessantly taunt and harass adults, children, cheerleaders, band members, and football players. The old steam engine train whistle (The Blue Cannonball) was parked nearby, which only incited the crowd even more. Basically, the only Gate City people not found in the visitors' section were law enforcement and GCHS Administrators.

I’m not sure how many scholarships are awarded in band 😂😂😂😂 but I know for a fact the football team doesn’t run over their band members nor do I expect them to plow down members of Union’s band not that any other Tazewell County team would ever do such a thing 😂😂😂😂.

I think so. I know he’s had a few health issues. The station is under new ownership, so who knows what’s going on with no broadcasts. It seems to be annoying a lot of folks over here.
