  1. I like it. It's a change from the regular season and a treat for the boys to get to play on a Saturday. Not many will get to do that in their life.

  2. Just what I was going to say Ryan, We have been in the playoffs enough to know that you don't take any game for granted and never look beyond the game ahead of you. I can promise you that Mance and staff are thinking of this game only right now, will they scout the other games......of course like every team will be doing, but they only have Wise on their minds this week, and so does every Richlands fan I know !!

  3. If someone could post that video by Union from last year before the Union/Graham game, that would be awesome! It was truly a masterpiece of good fun. Now, let me go pick up a Happy Meal for lunch πŸ˜‚.

  4. It's playoff time and Mance will have the Blues ready to play. Last year most everyone thought it was a no brainer and the Blues would loose in the first round, that didn't happen. Central is a good team, but with Mance at the helm, Richlands has always been a tough out in the playoffs. Don't think they will blow Central out by any means, it'll be close, but Mance and the Blues will move into the second round. I'm going with Blues 31-- Central 28.

  6. What I was trying to say is that, when the offense has 2 or 3 formations... The defense can't key on certain things when they see it.. On the other hand them young players that got playing time is looking impressive for UNIONπŸ™ŒπŸˆπŸ’ͺ

    GC at Union Part 2

Starting tailbacks Lomax #3 and Guerrant #24. Both also play linebacker. Lomax is out for the season with a broken leg suffered against Paintsville and Guerrant is absolutely battered. Hes a senior so he is gutting out a shoulder injury that would have normally ended anybody else's season. He's tough as nails but he hasn't been much of a factor in the running game. Couple of our offensive linemen are dealing with some knicks and bruises but are playing through. Glad a lot of those guys got much needed rest last week against Battle.

  8. There is a scripture that says "if one can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight". I think Coach did it to give dimension and strengthen the running game. They are both different runners. Webb is a finesse runner with speed, Steele is more of a "up the gut" runner. Either way, I think it bodes well for the "new season". Also, it takes pressure off of Simmons to settle down in the pocket, and be accurate in finding his open receivers.

  9. For those who remember any time before 2005, Saturday afternoon playoff games used to be the norm.

  10. I'm typically not one to promote or shill stuff involving my team, but I made an exception in this case. This is an outstanding video very professionally done and I can't begin to say enough good things about it, so I figured I'd share it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet as the video has been out for over a week now. Hope you all enjoy.

  12. Notice that no Richlands fan has talked about any other game than Central. One at a time. Next one is the most important one.

  13. Did something change? Wolfpack Twitter says Friday for them.

  14. Marion last year was a glorified flooded cow pasture with unceasing rain to maintain the mudbathed field. You couldn't see the numbers of any of the players from either team. Gave new meaning to the song Slip Sliding Away. πŸ˜‚ Heck, you couldn't walk to the restroom without water up to your ankles. I heard they took a power washer to the uniforms, lol.

  17. Maybe Mance will raise a stink and not allow Central to have eight men in the backfield every snap lol.

  18. I think we should play Graham at Riggs, let the grass grow to about thigh high and let the Appalachia Fire dept practice their fire fighting skills on the field untill about 9 am game day, mud and guts , seemed to work a little last year at Marion

It’s official now. Friday at 7pm. Thank God. I don’t have to get a divorce for missing my wife’s baby shower Saturday. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  24. It is a shitty situation for you guys, having to deal with the other team as well as battling Bluefield for dates. I always thought the home team made the call unless travel was over a certain distance but I really don't know for sure.

I know Big Stone Gap is all in house until JV and they run a very good program. Lots of dedication to the Union program down there

I agree with you both. However, when I think about it, the games aren't for the fans or the money they generate. They're really for the players. If it weren't for the kids that wanted to play, there wouldn't be a team. No team, no game. No game, no fans. No fans, no money. Does a 1-9 team "deserve" to be in the playoffs? No. Does that senior that loves the game, and maybe is in a bad situation due to inept coaching or poor turnout deserve one more chance to put on that uniform and play the game we all love? Absolutely!! If I was a HS senior, I would be ecstatic to play just one more time. Even if I knew I would get beat to death. Lol Just a thought.
