  1. There’s a funny post on FB from a guy in Clintwood proposing a class on football basics before letting anyone into games next season. I for one wholeheartedly endorse this idea. Some of our fans truly are an embarrassment.

  2. Don't worry they'll whine about the officiating the ENTIRE game. This includes coaches, managers, moms, dads, cousins, etc. The staff will spend more time crying about the officiating than they will making adjustments.

    Liberty scores!

Yeah. This thread is supposed to be a celebration of the triumph of humanity -- well, the part of humanity that plays football for Liberty High School anyway...

  4. The Wolfpack travels to Tazewell this year! I’m giving the nod to Tazewell if O’Quinn is still out and Creasy is playing. Even if O’Quinn is playing, I still think Tazewell can win. I know one thing, Bulldog nation will pack out that stadium for the Dawgs! Home field is definitely an advantage for them! After the embarrassing loss last year to Ridgeview, I think that works in Bulldog’s favor. They’ll want sweet redemption!

Haven’t seen anyone bashing the kids from Blacksburg. In fact, most feel for the kids from there. The adults making these decisions for them are cowards.

  8. John Marshall cancelled their game with Riverheads, citing lack of healthy players. Just wondering, if every public school that they play in basketball should return the favor.

    Gate City @ Ridgeview

From an outside perspective — I’d be livid with the admin in Dickinson Co. for running off a coach who is currently undefeated and one of a handful of favorites to make it to Salem.

I don’t think RV has Honaker from what I heard he had a broken bone, as far as using Scanlon there coaching has really been bad all the last part of the season so I’m not sure they know how to make that adjustment.

  15. 1. beat all other teams tied with 2. better record against all common opponents 3. any opponent had an effective 9 game schedule 4. highest winning percentage against rating scale-recognized opponents Twin - 80%, PH - 70%

  16. I agree with you, @Union_Fan All of PH's opponents played a 10-game schedule, so that's not it. Va High (4-6), Lebanon (3-7) , JIB (1-9), Grundy (5-5), JSB (3-7), RR (5-5), Holston (5-5), Honaker (10-0), Chilhowie (5-5), and Northwood (1-9) Both teams were 2-0 against their common opponents (i.e. Northwood, JIB), so that's not it either. Which goes to (f). And regardless of how you count the three TN opponents, Twin Springs still has the higher winning percentage.

Don’t worry they only know three words “That was holding “ only problem it’s after every play

  18. Did PH play a team with a 9 game schedule? Here's the tiebreakers. I didn't see anything that applied to these 2 until (f). That would be TS, so I have no clue otherwise. (a) The Rating Scale-Considering all regular season games played against public and non-public Virginia schools and scheduled in accordance with the provisions of 68-4-6. (b) The winner of any games between the two tied teams if only the tied teams are involved. If more than two teams tied, and one of the tied teams beat all other tied teams, that team shall advance. (c) The team with the better record against all common opponents. (d) A team that played an opponent with an effective nine (9) game schedule (non-recognized opponent, i.e., home school or out-of-state non-public school, or inability to schedule/play a 10th game) shall be seeded ahead of a school whose opponents play 10 game schedules. (e) Schools that played an opponent with nine-game schedules shall be seeded ahead of opponents who played 10-game schedules. (f) The team with the highest winning percentage against rating scale recognized opponents.

Rick Mullins left the program in good hands and the school board office blew it all up. Unfortunately, this election is not going to change anything. The good ole boy network is alive and well!

  23. I agree with you Gridiron. I favor Tazewell without O'Quinn. If O'Quinn plays, I think its 50-50. Calpreps has it 35-24 in favor of Tazewell.

  25. Rural Retreat is a bunch of scrappers. They’ve lost some close ones this season. I don’t think it was a fluke. Just think, they had that petition going around to get rid of the OC earlier in the season, lol.

    Unofficial pairings

I know a 10-0 record makes it seem like they would be a clear favorite but the #2, #4 & #8 seeds all took them down to the wire in the regular season.

    Liberty scores!

Final score was 49-6 Amherst. But from the atmosphere after the game someone who wasn't aware of that might easily form the impression that Liberty actually won. The student section (which was loud and active for the entire game) stormed the field and embraced the team and pretty much everyone was in an upbeat mood. Very odd. But still a thing of beauty. You've gotta love small town Friday night football.
