    Richlands at Marion

Richlands is a good team. They aren’t great. They aren’t elite like they were the last two years, but they are a good team. They have a defense that has kept a largely inept offense in all 4 games they’ve lost this year. Theyve moves to this power formation type of offense and it’s starting to click. This is still a team that I don’t think most want to see right now. I think you WANT us to be worse than Richlands really is. I said 7-3 before the season and said they would take a major step back. IF they win out, and that’s a big if, they would be 6-4. I don’t think most fans expected 10-0 or 9-1. We’ve gotten pretty much what we thought we’d see. Sorry you can’t handle that.

  2. I think most are realizing that. I think you are the one with the problem of envy... Richlands is not a good team this year compared to teams past but they still beat the best team Tazewell had in several years...

  3. Are you drunk or nucking futs??? V-High has beaten Graham many times over the years and they are very capable of doing it again this season.

That 7-0 score going into the 4th quarter sure showed that!

  5. should be practicing football instead of making a 15 minute lip dub saying "we did it first" ... i liked mitchell's response of the only dub we are worried about it on Friday Nights...

You are aware that richlands top two wide receivers didn’t play last night aren’t you?

  7. Lol no. What makes you think any team is gonna beat VHS by five TDs? That's silly. I think Graham wins by 7-14, but 35 is laughable.

  8. Ridgeview can get significant points from Grundy, Pike Central, Battle and Abingdon. Don't forget that 1A schools yield as many points as a 2A for Ridgeview. Not saying the Pack will outpoint Graham, but it is a very real possibility

    Deja Vu

The only reason Richlands catches so much crap about “recruiting” is because they win. Ryan is right, every school and sports team around here does it. When I was at Graham, every year multiple players from Graham would go to Bluefield or some Beavers would come to Graham. If Richlands wouldn’t have been so successful these past years, this wouldn’t even be a discussion.

  10. There is a general arrogance about Wise. That's why their consolidation hasn't gone as smoothly as Union's. Appy and PV were rivals, but there is real hatred toward Wise from the Pound folks. However, most of it has to do with the students maybe more so than the fans themselves. Their students have a long history(50+ years...see video) of prejudice and using racial slurs. A few years ago some Burton students created a Twitter referencing the walmart Warriors. Central students retaliated with a Twitter acount entitled the Norton.....(insert racial slur here). Their students have routinely used racial slurs during Union games and their students have created controversy during volleyball and basketball games. Warranted or not these actions have given Cental a bad rep.

  11. Safe to say central probably brings village people lunch box or grease the movie seeing up in the thread early they like to sing.

  12. I hope you're right, but Graham is capable of it. For the talent disparity there is this year, "mentally tough" and "precise" are not adjectives I would use to describe them. I don't mean to say that Graham is a bunch of head cases, but when things don't go well for them, it tends to snowball whereas it wouldn't with a team like Union.
    1 point
  13. I believe that Union may be more "complete" due to their mental toughness and execution. I would watch different film of both teams for an accurate gauge on their abilities. For Graham: Giles would be the first tape I watch. Giles is a quality 2C team whose style is not well suited for Graham, and is a good contrast.

  14. Grayson would be exceedingly lucky to win 1 of those (Fort, GW, Galax). Some high seed is going to be royally ticked to host Richlands in Week 1. Given that Graham has a mental block against them, fate will probably select Graham. 2D is quite the animal this year. Two great teams, 4-5 good teams, and a bunch of teams that should only be allowed in the postseason if they bought tickets to the game.

  15. Entirely possible depending on what Grayson Co does their last 3 games. If Grayson fails to win at least 2 of their last 3 games then a 4-6 Richlands would most likely get in as the 8th seed. Could go as high as 7.

  16. Lolololololol Wise has lost more home games in two years than Union has since it's inception. No one is ever fretting playing @Central.

  17. Have you saw VHS play? They're a very good team. I don't see any team beating them by 35 points unless they totally implode. I think you're severely underestimating VHS. I think Graham is probably best team in Region D right now, but VHS is top 4 as well.

  18. Thanks! I've never taken the time to fully understand the point system. I need to. I was just curious how a best case scenario for VHS would work out. They've had the best start to one of their seasons in 15 years but 9-1 would be a monumental task for them with still having to play @ Graham, Marion, and @ Richlands, who could be fighting for their playoff lives in week 11

  19. Yes, they would. It is also possible that a 9-1 Va High could outpoint a 10-0 Union as well. Letcher is really dragging Union down.

  20. Lol. Glad to be able to talk to someone with a good sense of humor. It's kinda hard to tell on here sometimes lol....I understand, man. I rely on others to help keep me in the know with the point system.

  21. I know, I was just busting your chops, all in good fun. But it all honesty, I have no idea how it would work out, I'm not at all real smart with this whole points system myself

  22. My question was actually, "What advantages do they have Union/Eastside do not?" This stemmed from BigWinners post about Central having favoritism directed to them by WCSB. I truly could not care any less why Union has beef with Central. We can agree that Eastside is the real people here with legitimate gripes.

  23. You did not tag me but glad I saw this. 1. Hate Union Week- Man, what a privilege it must be to to attend the county seat school and have a week sponsored by the school board to hate another school in the district.... Students started this and ran with it. Is it dumb? maybe, but its kids being kids. Union and Central are constantly trying to outdo one another. 2. Moving the ROTC program- Sounds to me like Union had privileges that Central/Eastside did not have. Backwards to your argument. Did they move it to the VOTEC center? If so, good place for it. Give Estside/Central/Union the same educational opportunities. 3. Stadium cost- Unsure on all this. It is public knowledge though so looking at the budget would be helpful but I am too lazy to do this. Does someone want to provide real research on this rather than trusting these very trustworthy posters? I might try and look in a few hours... 4. Tennis courts- You're speculating... If the SB fronted ANY cost, you would have seen it in the budget. 5. PV has ALWAYS played at Bulliet. I am not sure how the upkeep for Bulliet occurs or if the SB pays the town of BSG to use it. If not, good gig on the SB's side of things. Bulliet it a great place to play a game. If you wanted turf, I could name a few gentlemen who would probably proudly donate money for it. Union hates Central and vice versus for the same reasons. They are the county rival. It was set up that way and good for them. I remember when JJK and JIB used to be heated rivals as was Appy and PV. Regardless of the sport, it was always wild. Good for the schools to instill that rivalry mentality into today's society.

  25. V High is super deep and really big up front. Graham is a little more athletic. It's gonna come down to qb play and if taymon can get loose. I will say this though, Grahams depth hurt them some late in the season last year. The kids coming off the field with hands on hips and worn down. It'll be interesting to see this year with the bulk of their more challenging games here at the end of their schedule. Graham 28 Vhigh 21

  27. More of a grudge match than a rivalry. A rivalry has to have some respect in it. These two have zero respect for the other. That’s why every sporting event is tense.

  28. Who cares what reason for the hate it could be the fact that Central is just Central. But if you think we got hate for you because we call the Wal mart Warriors that's fine but news flash we are making fun of you. Better ? Why the hate for Union. Central does have Unionhateweek this week ???????

  29. Well, last I checked you couldn’t catch a ball if not dressed or even playing! That’s like me saying you know Tazewell top Wr didn’t play but 7 plays of the whole game because he was on the sideline with a broke leg! Richlands fans are getting so butt hurt on here this season because they can’t face the facts that they are not a good team!

    Richlands @ Tazewell

Richlands is in the grow mode as far as offense. If you look at the experience this year vs last year you could see. We had receivers with two, three, and four years of experience last year, pretty sure Chase played as a freshman. Of the receivers this year they look to be mostly first year with the two most experienced not playing against Tazewell. Last year you had a two time all state quarterback? This year we have a first year starter, given time he will be very good. We have always had a schedule that allowed us to grow, learn and adapt thru the season. With 4A schools stacked up front we taken that away. I still can't get over Blacksburg beating Salem as they did.

  37. Not all the fans are like that, but a large portion of the Wise fanbase doesn't get along with anyone. GC, Ridgeview, etc..

  38. Don't count out Ridgeview. If they end up 9-1 and rider points fall just right they can conceivably out point all other 9-1 teams.

  40. Update on Josh Tritt, the injured Lee High General from last nights game... It appears Josh is going to be fine. The CT scan looked good and will be followed with a MRI. He’s “sore” and in a brace but thankfully it looks like God was with us on Legion Field and Josh will heal. Continue to pray for all our athletes as they participate in events FROM unions Facebook page

  42. They have been stellar! Even with all the miscues, this same Lee team put up 477 yards of offense on Ridgeview(according to Ridgeview's Hudl), and I think the Wolfpack has a good team. Outside of the 61 yard pass, Lee had less than 35 yards of offense. That's amazing. I also have to give a lot of credit to the D coaching staff for their stunt and blitz packages along with their ability to make adjustments.
