Some will say say he has a really good assistant coach who is doing it all. Some will say he has done a fantastic job alone. Some will say he inherited a plethora of talent and it's easy to be successful with talent and athleticism. And all may be a factor to some degree. But the truth of the matter is that the great and most successful head coaches generally surround themselves with coaches wiser than themselves. Not to mention develop their feeder programs to keep the kids interested and buying into the future of the program. most programs ebb and flow. Like the old saying goes "What goes up...Must come down". Graham has been trending up the last few years and credit to their head coach and his staff for building it back up.

Palmer is a capable coach, but he has also been blessed by an absurd run of athletes at the skill positions that don't come around often. I think he has some growing to do as it relates to the position itself, but he's capable.

You see, I've never understood the phenomenon of cheering for a different school, especially one in your own classification and a possible postseason opponent, simply because their coach is an alumnus of your school. It's bizarre. Yet it happens in this weird Giles-Richlands love tryst. You don't see Graham fans cheering for Gate City because of Akers. You didn't see UVA fans cheering for Tennessee when Derek Dooley was coaching. You don't see Oregon State fans cheering for UVA. Besides, cheering for Richlands in this lopsided rivalry is like cheering for the house in blackjack.

As a member of the 2010 state championship gyp. The year us seniors was in 8th grade we went 1-9 only beating twin valley. JV year went 2-8. Senior year 14-1 (should of been 14-0)

Richland's defense has not played poorly all year( Except giving up the big play at times) ! I think Graham has speed, and speed kills, but no one from Graham is talking about last years implosions at Bluefield? On paper Graham should be favored, but does Mance have their number? I mean Mance adjusted and overcame HUGE deficits last year, with in my opinion, a better Graham Team last year? I thought Cousins, Meade, Allen, Dante, and last years team were better? No offense to Marion, but they caught lightning in a bottle with a couple of penalties and a 3 vertical call, that caught an adjustment to the run. RIchlands should have beat one of the best record wise team n the Region.... Mance and company had Blacksburg sweating early with game plan. If Richlands moves the chains, and chews the clock, and doesn't let Graham hit a home run with Allen Scramble, Long Run, or Long Pass to Cook I would have to say the pressure is on the G men, and a wise man once said "Pressure Busts Pipes" Graham may be too hype coming out..... Look for Mance to take the Rock, and if RIchlands gets the lead, the heat is on....... Levi the Leg Forrest is a Weapon and can kick it deep from the turf at Ernie and has been clanging and banging coffin corner punts all year long (Except the ruh roh kick to Mitchell where he proceeded to MIA take it to the house through the coverage) ALL THE PRESSURE IS ON GRAHAM. Same as it was on the Scarlet Hurricanes....... It took a bad snap, a 58 yard TD Strike LATE in the game, and some fortutious penalties (30 yards worth) and a blown call before the half to negate a RIchlands TD end of second for the Hurricane to emerge..........

I've seen some really good peewee players and middle school teams move up to varsity and be great there as well. I've also seen great teams/players top out and be bad at the high school level. Just because they're something at 10 doesn't mean they're going to be that at 17...

How does a travel team post turn into this? These kids are doing well for the most part. The 8u team is very much improved. Lost their first 2 games and not lost a game since. The 10u is still a work in progress and have won two straight now. The 12U team can play with anyone on their schedule when they give their all.

Honest or not, the admin probably gave him he directive NOT to mention the protesting or make kids feel bad for protesting. He likely got caught in the moment and blurted something out. Admin terminated. It is easy to speculate the situation, but no one on this board knows what was said prior to the interim take over. Hopefully Qualls high tales it outta there this year and another school does not hold this against him.

Mance will never coach another high school team in VA not named Giles. Period. If he leaves and coaches again, it'll be at the college level to some extent.

Trumpet and I both went to HS with Brandon, I played ball w him for like ten years. He's a great guy and he knows football. The fact he wasn't given more leeway is RIDICULOUS. I'm positive he didn't mean anything with that comment other than it's hard to beat a good team without a full week of practice. Fuck the Crockett administration, they're shady AF.

Some parent on the team will throw them a BBQ and give them trophies for a title they should have won if not for all the adversity they faced. I think the kids were the victims in this pissing contest between and jock head coach and a "that's not the way we do it here" AD but you can't be at practice and having a protest at the same time. Qualls being who he is and where he is from just told it like it was and pissed off someone's little junior and he became the latest victim of the story that has more legs than a centipede.
