Just talked to Unions AD Mr. Goforth and asked him about the Giles train horn he said if they want to bring it. Tell then to come on with it. Just had to be on Unions side he will be getting Lee Highs train horn as well all we need now is the 1 from Gate City.

Being a Virginia Tech fan working just outside of Knoxville this is the best Christmas Gift EVER!!!!!!!! UT football has completely fell apart and I love it. And I really don't understand his mentality. He had no problem with games being hosted at sites with terrible field conditions before. Hold the games on a field that has turf, and let the weather be whatever it will be.

I am a Gate City Alum and GC open date was always the last week of the regular season, and there was probably twenty of us from GC there just in our little group.

I was at the PV/Appy game and I remember people being packed in at least 10 to 15 rows deep around the track. It was crazy packed. I hope tomorrow blows both of those games out on attendance! I would love to see numbers of 12,000 or more there!

Just gonna throw out my thoughts on this game. With the rushing yards appo has given up in the past two games I don’t believe they can’t stop the U. But I also believe it will be difficult for union to stop all of appos weapons they present and the triple option plays they run are difficult for any defense to stop. But at this point in the season unions defense is lights out and I believe they will cause the only turnover of the game giving them the win 27-21 bear roll

I am not living anywhere in the past, but UT's past is excellent. Football above any sport and cyclical. ( bad today, good tomorrow) Florida done nothing till Spurrier showed up and Richt wasted more talent than anyone. Everything going on at UT had to happen, it is nothing more than a civil war between the "old money" boosters the Haslem's vs. the "new money" boosters, (Ergen, Jones, Thorton ) and the coaching search bought it to a head. Currie should have been fired after Sunday, he got five extra days to prove he was inept. From Rock Bottom the only way is up, Oh and Currie got what was coming to him for firing Fulmer.

Maybe questioning Mitchells heart on other forum was the wrong way of saying it...I apologize for who I offended. But....i know last year was not a good showing for him after hearing all the D1 offers that some of you came on other forum boasting about. Cant remember who it was after we won last year... they was stating how much better Mitchell was over Graves... they pointed at scholly offers and “stars” to prove it. I think the kid is good.. i just know i didnt see the kid that was advertised last year. Hope he goes to Tech so I can root for him on right side of the bleachers. Again i have mad respect for Richlands, Union, and Giles as well.

Giles just has there's on a 2000w generator and small air compressor for away games but it's still very loud due to the fact that its a legit horn off a locomotive and not an ebay special(not downing people that use ebay as I do myself quite often lol)

Again my point is proven. As I've stated before this team is playing as a full unit and the fact is James is our most well rounded athlete but it has been shown in stats that he is not our entire team. A good example of one kid being the entire team in my opinion would be Heath Miller at Honaker. He was the qb and linebacker that beat Powell Valley single handed in the playoffs. But this year's union team is playing as an 11 man unit with a d1 talent that is NOT the entire team.

Union has been playing as a team too. While James is the most talented player on the team, he is very clearly not the whole team as some want to believe. I love how Union is playing as a team. Owens, Zirkle, Jenkins, and Mitchell are very good weapons to use.

I think Mitchel, Owens, and all the other Union players would tell everyone that it is not about who the best player is on the team, its the team that counts. To this day I don't see the letter "i" in the word team. They are outstanding players on this team, but what has got Union this far is the team effort, and that is what will win this game, TEAM EFFORT!! GO BEARS!!!1

I think in the long run, we could all agree that Mitchell makes Owens better and vice versa. Same with James and Qualls. What has made this years Union team so deadly is they are not a group of good athletes. They are a sum of all parts. A unit, a team. Battling of each other and having the next man up attitude. Each of the formentioned players could easily be the stud for several teams in the Region D. But their team oriented and understand that the "we" is bigger than the "me".

And there's no shame in that.

Exactly. UVa-Wise don't have near enough seats, especially on the visitor side to host a state title game. Mitchell could host it but it's technically in WV.

I talked to Ken Tilley about it a few years back. He said only way he would be for it is if there was a Dome Stadium in Central Virginia to host all the games. Was hoping that would change after his retirement.

Owens isn't a better back that Mitchell. Not even close. Owens is a great RB, but he's the speed back. He isn't capable of running tough in the middle to gain big yards whereas Mitchell can bang inside for five yards, take a counter for ten years or break off an 80 yarder. He is more versatile than Owens and tougher to tackle.

Fun fact I just discovered. Both 2A semi-finals are being played in a municipal park. Robert E. Lee-Staunton's home field is at Gypsy Hill Park. I would guess the more politically-correct residents of Staunton are not thrilled about the name of the high school or city park.

Also worth noting Thor's hammer has received some upgrades.

I tell ya what I would like to see for 2A. Each region has a nice field that can be played on so why don't we rotate every 4 years? Region D could use UVA Wise, C could keep Salem if they so choose to, Im sure one of the colleges in A and B would rent out there fields for VHSL playoffs. Either that or go back to power points host all the way through.
