Why are Richlands fans on here so butt hurt over losing to Graham??? I mean, we took our ass-whoopings from Richlands and didn't bitch about them having starters in when they shouldn't have...

I hear what you are saying Ryan. I can definitely see that side of it also and it makes sense to me. I was just trying to think about what might the Graham coaches were thinking. If I had to bet, the decision to keep starters in was fueled by the thought of two words, Union Bears. But I can't get inside nobody's head on it. I don't for sure have any idea.

Hard to play with energy when a massive juggernaut comes out angry. Graham's absolutely nasty and scary when they don't beat themselves and do the self inflicted stuff.

Lafayette would battle pretty good with them. Lafayette is supposed to be really good again coming off a state title. Few seem to be talking about em on Vapreps, but they got a good chance to repeat

Reading comprehension has always been an issue for you, hasn’t it? My post reads “is there more than a couple schools in 3A and 4A” and you list a couple schools that may beat Riverheads. It’s doubtful more than the schools you mention would be favored against them. They just beat the 3A state runner-up by more than 4 scores! There little wonder why you have issues with everyone on this board!

Scoring 7 points in the 3rd quarter is running up the score? Graham could have scored again with a first and goal in the 4th and chose to run a freshman with the first teams in with both teams, ran off tackle . The last series of the game featured Richlands 1st team offense against Grahams 2nd team defense. I dont get at all the running up the score talk. Graham was very conservative, the entire 2nd half. Mostly ran the QB off tackle.

It was a great run. But it's over they should accept that.

You can say all that stuff, but IMO, it is stupid to leave 10 of your 11 starters in while you’re up 35-0 with 8 min left in a game. One wrong play and someone snaps an ACL and you’ve flushed your chance at a state title down the drain. It’s just not smart. And that goes both ways.

Your right once game is out of reach get em out winning or losing. Union started subbing early in the 3rd tonight and Burton tried to but didn't have many too sub. Not worth losing a starter in a blowout. Only problem for Union though starters are only playing 2 quarters and that's a problem playing Graham

Agreed. That officiating was so bad. Both schools had to suffer from it. Could be an exciting potential playoff rematch. We all know what happens when Giles and GW meet up for a rematch in the playoffs. It’s always a hell of a game.

I like what I see on defense for Graham. Good mix of speed, size and athleticism. I was extremely impressed with Blevins at QB. I think they would have won that game without Bradshaw, which is what is scary about Graham this year. They have depth and have kids that can come off the bench and make plays. As for Bradshaw, 4 or 5 targets and 3 td's? That kid has an insane amount of talent. If I'm Graham's coaches, I am playing that last play of the Union game last year over and over again in the weight room. I would play audio of it on the practice field and blast it while Graham practices this week. Get them focused on beating Union. Can't wait for that one.

Tony isn’t known for running up the score which he didn’t tonight. He literally started subbing some in 2nd Q. I’ve never seen him run the score up on an opponent.

Grundy 20, Blacksburg 19. A team that won the 3A State Title in 2016 and a team that was probably the best 4A team in 2017 losing a nailbiter to Salem and Salem went on to win the state title easily. Now, in only a 4 year period, they are 0-2. Those two losses for Blacksburg, the Class 4 school comes at the hands of Giles Class 1, and Grundy, Class 1. Now it's one thing to struggle or have a down season, and I know Giles and Blacksburg is an opening traditional rival game dating back to the old New River, but going from a State Title in 16 at 3A and probably should have had another in 17 at the 4A level to losing to not one, but two Class 1 schools to open the season. Craziness.

Yep. It’s shown. 2 days of practice in a 14 day span is hard to overcome — it’s almost impossible with a team the caliber of Graham.

Mark this on the calendar for me defending Richlands, I agree completely with this. He was trying to stop a big issue from happening from his role status. Should he have rushed out on the field initially, no. It is what it is and move on with it. Not like he was trying to stir anything up.
