  1. Since Gate City hammered Graham 70-0 in the first round of the 2014 playoffs, Gate City is 9-23 and Graham is 24-9.

  3. Seems to me that we all have been a little spoiled with the success that the Blues have experienced over the past decade. Don't like to hear all the negativity coming from the fans when the team needs fan support more than ever. I know everyone has an opinion and freedom to express it, but we all need to realize that these players are just kids trying to do the best they can. In expressing my opinion, I wonder why we didn't use the run package that's been developed over the last few games with a full back and two tight ends, especially in the overtime. As I said before, its just an opinion, but at no time should we as fans be showing our lack of knowledge of the game by screaming at the coach or picking on our players (kids) the way I heard some of the fans in the crowd doing repeatedly. As fans we all need to get behind the team and let the players know that we will always support them no matter what the outcome of the game. Go Blues!!!

  4. They said he had a hip injury which was bad for us. Congrats to the Wolfpack for not giving up and making the halftime adjustments.

  5. One of the city council members in Norton was quoted afterwards stating, "Hey, how about we just move Castlewood High School to Norton so we can take care of you? We already have Wise Co. Central, why not you guys?"

  6. Some may have already seen this, but I thought it was pretty cool... Castlewood bus breaks down on the way to Norton for football game with Burton. So, Burton bus and Norton fire truck transport team & equipment to the stadium. Sportsmanship!!!

  8. I believe that applies for any thread that invokes Gate City for the last 2 months.

  9. You are possibly in the midst of your first 0-10 season. You definitely are in the midst of no better than 1-9. You went 3-7 in 2015 and missed the playoffs. You went 5-5 last year and lost the first round of the playoffs leading to a 5-6 record. You are in your third consecutive losing season and from what many GC fans are saying number 4 in a row may come next year. Whatever superiority is in the GC program is very quickly dwindling.

  10. I haven't seen the bearcats except some highlights here and there and from what I've observed they have a big line and some good athletes. I think this game comes down to whether they can contain Ford or not he will get his yardage but can VA High limit the big plays Ford makes. The only 2 teams that limited Ford from having big plays was Grayson and Richlands in my opinion the best defenses we've faced this season. I'm going with the Canes I think Ford breaks a long one in the 4th. Marion 28 Virginia High 21

  11. Agreed. I know that all of Bearcat Nation hopes to get another shot at Graham in the playoffs. Not at all because we're sure we'd win, but having what's considered to be a good year for Va High, that was just a sad showing on our part, and we would like to show that we're a little better than that score indicated. Va High AND Graham deserved a better effort from us. Thanks, and good luck to you guys as well!

  12. Exactly! Another ... "everything so right ... everything so wrong" game. It happens to the best of teams especially when we ... as fans ... least expect it. Good luck Friday night!

  14. That's what you call a Perfect Storm. Going by what other posters have said on here, that was Graham's most disciplined game played of the year. They were flawless. VHS was just the opposite. Cooke definitely gives Graham the edge in talent, but VHS choked when the lights were the brightest. Players and coaches. If that team shows up against Marion, it will be a similar result.

    Tazewell vs Grundy

My first question is what is the best quality opponent that Grundy has played? Follow that up with how did they handle it? Know what happened to the common opponent in Hurley and tat was impressive. As far as injuries, star WR out, starting QB probable from what I understand but a great backup is there if he is healthy. Hard to play when you barely have enough players to cover the field with only a few to spare. But these guys should be proud of what they have done and hopefully it shows through with more players coming out next year and I don't mean just the incoming freshmen.

    Good information. Thanks!

  17. This game is particularly close to home for Marion people, with all the comparisons that common folk and media alike have been making between this team and the "undefeated" '87 team. They did get to 11-0 being undefeated in 1987, but there aren't many folks who have forgotten who put the "1" in 11-1.

    Central @ GC

Agreed. At full strength theyre pretty talented, 7 injuries to starters(most 2 way starters) later not so much. I thought Central would be better defensively, their scores against Eastside and Grundy weren't what I expected, and those were before the injury bug hit them.

  20. I would really appreciate Prayers for one of the Bearcats after getting injured against Lebanon last night. He hasn't had his MRI done yet but doctors fear a torn ACL and MCL. He is a Senior, who is a good, hard-working ballplayer, who is a great kid. So hard to see ANY kid get a serious injury, but when it's a Senior, it's doubly tough. It's happened too often in our region this year.

  22. I travel in NOVA almost daily of late. If yard signs are any indication, Gillespie is wasting his money. I mean there are NO Gillespie signs to be seen. Looks like the energy is for Northam...unfortunately. So it probably means that Gillespie wins 90 counties but looses because of NOVA.

    Ridgeview vs Pike central

If it's at Pike Central, PC wins by less than a TD. If it's at Ridgeview, Ridgeview wins by 2 TDs+.

  30. Our Heavenly Father, We come together as your disciples and in your name, Jesus Christ, in times of need. Our Father, We know that you can and will answer our Prayers, through Your Love and Grace. One of Your children was injured in a football game in Bristol yesterday. We wish him, his teammates, coaches, parents and friends the very best in the days to come. May his injury heal swiftly and bring much needed comfort to all in the days to come. In Christ The Father We Pray, Amen
