The collapse of Rome isn't too fun to watch. My heart breaks a little more each Friday night. When fans are leaving at halftime of a GC game, you know something is wrong. Hats off to Union though, they have a solid team with some serious speed.

I have been "out-of-pocket" for awhile and missed much of the football season to date. Clicked on the SWVAsports board this am to catch up and WTF! GC fans and their version of "Days of our Lives" have firmly migrated here. Much like soap operas, you really don't need to watch often, one or two episodes and you are all caught up on the misery and woe. SSDD, if you know what I mean. Hint(s) for some of the more brash, newer posters: (1) Don't piss off he who wields the hammer; and (2) UVAO knows his stuff. You better have your ducks in a row before entering battle with either.

Union is the best team I've seen this season. Mitchell might be better at QB for Union. The ball is in your playmakers hands every play, we knew it was coming, and couldn't stop it. And Joel Davis is very liked by the players from GC, I heard that tonight.

I look at it as this. Some don't like the head coach for certain reasons, to each their own. But in reality we haven't stopped a soul on defense in 3 years. That's problem #1 in my eyes, if you can score 28 points you should never lose. Or if you are being gutted and make 0 adjustments on defense, why be called a defensive coordinator? With all that said, Jason in GC vs Union post stated no concessions or bathrooms open during an event that was holding 3 football games in Todays heat! Guess who's job it is to handle that? Nothing but our finest AD, hence the sarcasm in finest. There is reason he was fired by the last 2 head coaches at Gate City. The man would rather see GC fail in football just for that reason. A vindictive person as he is is a cancer to the school, just wait until Coach Vermillion or Coach Reed don't bow down to his demands. The same thing will take place as it is visually happening in football. His buddy is on the school board with him, they both need to be gone before their cash cow is dead. Sorry for the rant but OUR AD IS TRASH!

From outside looking in I did not know. Now that I have been involved with it I am seeing what I had been hearing about. He refused to open bathrooms and concessions on two separate nights during little league.

You don't necessarily have to live there to have info. I live in Blacksburg yet have a decent level of inside knowledge of the team.

Need to hire Keith Warner as AD as quickly as possible. He just finished up his masters this past semester and wants the job. Great personality and loves to win at everything.

It wont turn around until we get an AD that does not destroy everything he is involved in. Time for school board to do their job. Get rid of him and bring in a coach that will turn it around. No good coach is coming as long as he in there. The programs that are having success were already established. As a matter of fact....let him hang around and it wont be long before Amy Reed and Scotty Vermillion say peace out. Really surprised Kellie Houseright still coaching after what they all have to put up with. The kids are the ones who are suffering. Good luck GC. It will get worse before it gets better. Getting new AD would just be the start.

We have some really good coaches in LL but kids don't seem interested in coming out.

I wasn't impressed with the big backs at all, no wiggle and didn't get a chance to show much speed. I thought the athletes out wide, 10 and maybe 8 or 9 were the best playmakers. The outside WR has mastered the subtle pushoff lol.

The Old LPD Forum was a good place...this one is as well. IMO, this one is nowhere near as heated. I've never gotten my blood pressure up on here, but on there it was a daily occurrence.

My lord BB took off late last year and hasn't looked back. 1 early loss this season but they might just take the 4A this year. I've never seen Salem handled like this.

I kept hearing people around me complaining about running the same plays over and over, but Giles was getting 5, 6 yards a pop. Floyd was playing linebackers and defensive backs farther back than anybody Giles has played this year. They were not stacking the box. They shut down the wing back plays. Giles had the lead the whole game. They are not going to throw much and not much st all with the lead.

It was a wild sequence lol. Grant handed it off to Mitchell (who is the son of VT secondary coach Brian Mitchell) who fumbled it before he crossed the line of scrimmage, it bounced off a foot and just landed dead 3 feet to the right of Grant. So he just picked it up and Babcock (also a son of a known VT figure) was literally wide open. Was the only player standing in the entire endzone. I just laughed as it happened because I didn’t know what else to do. Anything that could have, did go right for Blacksburg. And I loved EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND.

I'm seriously doubting GC can get 2 wins. Heard 3 players quit this week and would be willing to bet there will be more. The entire system from LL up is in disarray.

I miss the old LPD forum as well. No disrespect to GMan or UVAO at all, this is a very well maintained and excellently designed forum, I just have the nostalgia for the old forum. I made many great friends as well. We are few and far between now, old LPD members. You, Stripes, DJ, and a couple more. All I want to know is what is Richlands going to do about there offense and running game! Isn't #44 the nephew of Devon Johnson why haven't Mance tried him at RB it couldn't hurt to see if it's in his genes to be as good as his uncle was could it! Just asking cause I heard a lot of people asking why they haven't tried him yet but whatever they do they need to get it going!
