  4. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Ridgeview impressed me in a couple of ways. First, they controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Also, they flew to the ball faster on D than any team I’ve seen in a while. I wouldn’t say that Union didn’t have its “A” game, I think Ridgeview took it away. I honestly think Union was out coached tonight. The play calling hurt the Bears too. I completely understand wanting to establish the run but we have to many options in the passing game to stay in be T, especially when a team is dead set on stopping it. IMO, #10 & #80 for Union need to play more of a role in the offense. And I’d love to see them use the middle of the field. Gettting off that soapbox, congrats to the Pack on a hell of a game!

  5. Biggest win in the consolidated Ridgeview’s history. It took a few years, but the magic’s back in Dickenson County.

  8. Didn't see the game, but my hat goes out to anyone who beats Union. Congrats to the Wolfpack. There is an old saying, "Respect has to be earned", and I think Ridgeview earned a lot of respect by winning this game. It's odd that some fans want the glory for what the team has done, but in a way we all are sometimes like that. When our team wins, we say "WE WON", but when our team looses we often hear "They Lost". Hope you Wolfpack fans can learn to say "WE LOST" when the victory escapes your team. I don't blame you for wanting to boast about the win over Union, but at the same time, remember its the boys and coaches on the field that won the game and I give them all the due credit, they earned it.

  9. We hell , what position did you play?take the complement,Ridgeview earned it ...not you or I, but “they earned it”but if you need to say “I respect you , don’t know you, don’t care to , but the kids from Ridgeview , yes they are a very good ball club

  10. Congrats to the Pack!!!! Very impressive team. Like the above comment, the defense was so fast to the ball and took away the running game to the outside. Line play was huge in this game and Ridgeview won it on both sides of the ball. Ridgeview has a very balanced attack. Was impressed with Adkins, he’s going to be something special. QB and other RB was very impressive as well. I agree the passing game needs to be used more, but you have to have receivers that are going to buy into it and run good crisp routes every time the ball is snapped, instead of jogging off the ball for 5 yards because they know it’s not coming their way. That definitely doesn’t help any in the passing game. Makes it very hard on a QB when all you have is one place to throw the ball, because no other receiver is running a hard route. Great atmosphere and beautiful campus and place to watch a football game. Hats off to Ridgeview and Good Luck the rest of the way!!!

  11. Took up residence along the fence, great game, Ridgeview just the better team tonight. I'd like to see a rematch and Union bring their A game. These two are definitely top two in the area for 2A.

  12. who?

    Boone @ GC

Absolutely no effort tonight. After Boone’s 1st td... we gave up. Unforced turnovers. Not covering punts. Pitiful effort. These kids do not want to play for him. They don’t want to play at all. They are counting the weeks down. Really sad crowd. No fire. No enthusiasm. Never have seen it this bad. Ever

  13. Ridgeview outworked, out played and was a much better TEAM than Union tonight, yes Union didn’t bring it’s A game tonight but Ridgeview had everything to do with that. No need in telling you this but Adkins is a stud but your QB beat us with his runs and passing . Again congrats Wolfpack

So, GC needs to keep Akers and hire 10,000 new fans to put up with his incompetence. What an elegant solution. Take it to the school board and I guarantee they'll pass it!!

  20. I don’t think either team played their best, but that happens when two heavyweights slug it out sometimes. I didn’t think Ridgeview could do it. Wish Union well the rest of the season.

I disagree on the hot dogs....I dont like sweet chili, IMO chili was mean to have a slight spiciness to it...not be sweet. They have laffy taffy for that..

  25. I had to turn it off. They sounded like real nice guys but all the talking over each other and repeating each other drove me crazy. Also identifying Union players by the uniform number drove me crazy.

  27. Run defense for ridgeview really impressed me tonight....it was pretty much lights out..Polier had a few good runs...he impressed me the most. And on defense he seemed to always be around the ball, gave a Adkins a nice hit in the 2nd quarter...

  40. There is a line from Roadhouse that says something to the effect that you should never marry an ugly woman. They will drain you. One could argue that both UVA and VT are ugly woman. But UVA’s sports program is more complete💪⚾️⚽️🏈🏀🎾🏐🥅🥊 VT does have 🎣 title though.

As a parent, Yes I do want the best opportunities for my children. I have seen a Coach have such a connection with his players that the majority of them would run thru a brick wall if asked. But I have also seen said Coach not be able to do anything to reach a player. I believe alot has to do with how the kids are taught at home. If a player constantly sees/hears everyone personally attacking their coach, those feelings will spread like a cancer thru a locker room. Akers may or may not be the Best Coach for GC Football. But to say he is the ONLY problem is the 1st problem. I am all for constructive criticism. Not going to games because a team is struggling and the fans are trying to show the HC that he isn't supported hurts the school/kids. Can you imagine working hard on a presentation for work and when you go to present it no one shows up? I know that's a little bit of a stretch but it's the same for the kids. No matter what the outcome of the game is, if the kids are truly putting in the hard work, they are already defeated when they walk out and the stands are missing fans. The kids hear the fans heckling Akers on the sideline as well. Again, that spreads like a cancer throughout. You just can't put all the blame on Akers. GC Fans say there will be all kinds of people applying for the HC position when it becomes available. I think they have actually put a bitter taste in people's mouth in how they have shown their "school spirit". Akers has more support around SWVA than GC Fans would like. There is a way of handling these these situations and GC Fans have failed their team.

You don't have to be "perfect" to realize he's in over his head. That's been evident since he's been there. I'm not sure how many hours he puts in, but he could be there 24/7 and it wouldn't matter. It's wonderful that you're ok with them being mediocre, but folks that have supported them decade after decade are not ok with it. When you settle for mediocrity, this is what you end up with and I'm afraid a lot of folks have "settled". You may have a son on the team. If so, why wouldn't you want the best coach and opportunity for them? The money brought in during football season also helps sports all year long. When you go from 5,000 for each home game to less than 1,000, those numbers add up. There's a lot more to it than just wins and losses. As far as the "numbers and talent" not being there, GC has usually averaged mid-upper 40's each year. We didn't always have the best talent during the Colobro years, but he got every bit of effort and talent that he could get out of each player. There was no "voodoo" then. He was just a helluva football coach with outstanding assistants. I don't mean anything I've said to sound offensive in any way, but I've followed this program for more than 40 years and I've traveled thousands of miles to support the kids. It's heart breaking for me to see what's happened to the entire program.
