  1. I actually think this will help Tazewell. Tazewell has a lot of speed. Richlands has none. The turf will help Tazewell. Tazewell has to defend three plays. The wide receiver screen, the pass to the tight end and the run right up the middle. If they can do that more often than not they can win. Most importantly they have to believe they can win. I actually believe they are more talented than Richlands. Tazewell 36 Richlands 35

Yeah I watched the entire video with sound, totally disgusting. Any coach with an ounce of dignity would never allow that kid back on the team, much less just missing a few quarters.

That kid should never be allowed on a field again, and if he's 18, he should face an assault charge.

I'll participate here. 1979 Tijuana Brass vs. Phenix Horns (of Earth, Wind, & Fire) circa 1981. Who ya got? I'd put money on the support group for EWF, but I do think Herb Alpert's boys would fight dirty.

  6. Nice job, Brady. You covered a lot of information with good pace. Ryan, hopefully your stint on the DL is short. Overall, the podcast continues to improve as the two of you gain confidence and become more comfortable. It's obvious the amount of preparation you all are putting in before you ever hit record.

  10. Honestly, from a Richlands fan perspective, I love the rivalry between Richlands and Tazewell, but last year and this year are the closest (in my mind) that Tazewell has come in during this "streak" to beating Richlands since '08. Could Tazewell run over Richlands like Bluefield or Blacksburg? I don't think so... But, could they play with them and win by less than seven? Very, very possible. I like the prediction of Richlands 34 to 21, but keep Tazewell on under-bulldog upset watch.

VOTE for Week 7 Top 10

Glad to see a new voter! Unfortunately, the cutoff each week to have your vote count is 5:00 pm every Wednesday, so we can post the results on CoalfieldSports.com, and so Ryan and Brady can discuss the list on the SWVA podcasts on Thursday mornings. Hopefully you will come back and vote after this week’s games. Our number of voters has been lower than we had hoped. There are too many people that call the list a “joke” or fuss because they don’t believe certain teams should be on there, but yet they don’t vote lol. Kinda like the idiots who constantly complain about any sitting POTUS and they have the chance to do something about it and vote, but they don’t! 🤣🤣(on a much smaller scale, of course😁)

    What would happen?

Great to think about. Thankfully I was able to watch all 3 play. Breeding was just tough hard nosed and would get you 3-4 yards a pop for the most part. Jennings was just so quick and shifty. He could just hide behind the lineman and find a hole and he was through it before the D knew it. He could also stop on a dime and change directions so fast. Johnson was just a man among boys. Power, speed, stiff arm, etc., etc., But for me, I am partial to Jennings. He was just fun to watch. He had around 44 TD's his senior year if I am not mistaken. Who knows what kind of numbers he, would have put up his Junior and Senior years had he played more than 2 quarters and a series most of those games. He just left you shaking your head with your mouth gaped open a lot throughout the game.

  32. SWVA is becoming it's own little Recruiting Hotbed!!!! 5 Kids with Major P5 offers if you include Bluefield so far and about 4 or 5 others will have FBS and FCS before it's over. Tazewell has a O-Lineman that could get P5 offers I'd also say Chancellor will atleast have a FBS offer and Sage Webb will be at Top 100 player next year.

    What would happen?

You'd think, but Hampton was 19-31. I could only find data on Cloudland for the last 14 years, but they were 5-12. It's possible that they may be around the .500 mark if you went back further. What is amazing was Dobyns-Bennett's 30-34 record. That's a pretty lousy playoff record considering that up until a couple of years ago they had won more games than anyone in the state of Tennessee. That's a lot of first and second round losses, and probably most came with D-B as the #1 or #2 seed in the region and facing a lower seed. Science Hill is 15-21. Want some staggering playoff records? Alcoa is 106-15....Maryville is 120-22. I haven't looked it up, but right off hand I'd guess that in SWVA that Appy, PV, Clintwood, Burton, Union, Gate City, Graham, and Richlands for sure have winning playoff records and, GW, Honaker, Jonesville, Pennington and maybe some others do as well or are close to .500

  42. I call a spade a spade my friend. Believe me, I have the upmost respect for Coach Palmer and what he has done with our program since he has taken over. We have gone from a team that was getting scheduled for everyone's homecoming, to a team that is a threat every year. But it doesn't take Lee Corso to tell us that this team is undisciplined. That doesn't mean these young men are causing trouble or are not good upstanding young adults. It means their emotions get the best of them on the field. Great players and teams learn to channel that emotion and use it productively instead of negatively.

  43. I could agree with coaching decisions in the Bluefield game. With that said they treated it like a glorified scrimmage knowing it was going to be a brutal murder. No sense in trying to get fancy or cute, just work on fundamentals and grow by doing. Some may look at last week against Hurley and wonder why come out throwing in the second half. My thoughts are they were short passes designed to get the ball to the edge and let players make plays. Nothing was downfield or trying to run it up. Work on execution and development because they will need to pull it all out for this week. Show me a coach that doesn't have questionable decisions in games at some point. Not making adjustments...how about the increased roll that Mike Jones has had since giving him a chance???
