Actually Bluefield is the Tazewell county champs....

Richlands has 6 losses: Union 8-0 Blacksburg 8-1 William Byrd 7-1 Bluefield 9-0 Marion 8-0 Graham 7-1 That's a combined 40-3 record out of 6 teams, and they still have a 6-2 team left on the schedule. And the crazy part is the Blues have been within a touchdown of every one of those teams in the 4th quarter. This defense is damned impressive given the fact the offense is inept and now is without it's top 2 WR and it's two best OL, with all 4 of those players playing D as well. A play here or there, and the Blues could be .500. IF they make the playoffs, whoever gets them in the first round will be sweating. You can't come in and not bring your A game and expect to coast through this defense.

Can someone ask Richlands' kicker if he's available to kick for Alabama tomorrow vs. Tennessee? jeeez that boy can kick the ball. He pinned graham deep all game, kicked two field goals with ease, and executed a perfect onside kick.

Blues have a darned good defense (better than last year’s, if you want to know the God’s honest truth). Graham played like a team that knew it was cursed, which I told you all they would. That win may be the turning point for this team. The demons are gone.

I agree...Vineyard was outstanding tonight.

Cliffnote thoughts: Richlands - only about 2 skill position players away from being a 7-8 win team. Strong front 7. #6 needs to get a shot at QB the whole game. Kicker is D1 bound. Legitimately could make a case that he was the best player on the field tonight. Graham - Played timid. Costly turnover before the half. Cooke had 2 touchdowns but played his worst game of the year by far. Dropped what could've been a touchdown and dropped 2 sure fire interceptions in the 4th that would've ended the game. Allen played TOUGH, he didn't care to take or give a hit. #29 Vineyard doesn't get enough recognition. He played one of the best games by a linebacker I've seen in a long time.

I would really appreciate Prayers for one of the Bearcats after getting injured against Lebanon last night. He hasn't had his MRI done yet but doctors fear a torn ACL and MCL. He is a Senior, who is a good, hard-working ballplayer, who is a great kid. So hard to see ANY kid get a serious injury, but when it's a Senior, it's doubly tough. It's happened too often in our region this year.

Will be praying for this young man. Sorry to hear this. I hate it so bad for these young men when it happens. They work so hard and you are right... especially difficult when you're a senior playing your final season.

That was said. Some of the comments made by Richlands "fans" were more interesting than the game. I know not all fans talk, yell, or scream at the players and coaches during the game but some do and maybe out of frustration. Literally yelling at how the qb stinks, etc etc. is uncalled for IMO. These bleacher coaches that had sat behind us was really letting the comments fly. I've heard these guys before there, coming from a Tazewell atmosphere this was really unusual at a Richlands home game for me.

I know this is the morning after but I went back and read this post which made me think back to when I was a kid growing up and cheering for the Bulldogs. I had never been to a game at Grundy before and the week of the game people were telling me, "Oh I hear the last time, Tazewell went to Grundy, they slashed the tires on the band bus and stabbed a few people and threw them into the bushes!". Well naturally I was scared to death to go, but of course we had to go watch my brother play so off we went. Of course nothing happened and years later, I got to know several people from Grundy when I was in college who were some of the nicest people I've ever met on earth. It's a shame that a few fans from a each school tend to ruin the perception for everyone else.

It is at Legion field. And based on the points gc put up tonight, they may pull off the win.

ABSOLUTELY! I was shocked he didn't. After the game I enjoyed his comments and thought they were just right. He ended in saying to Miss Edeth.. The better team won. It hurts but it's true.

You're right. It's a really tough one. But with your season arguably on the line I think you have to try to do something to get the W.

I think he should have. Would he have gotten it? I kinda doubt it, but I think he has to. It gives them the better chance. You have all the momentum on your side for the first time all night, and in the back of your head you have to know how tough it would be to stop Graham in OT considering they only have to go a quarter of the field.

No problem. Check back next year and we'll talk about how Richlands should be favored over Graham because Trey Brown had more rushing yards in 3 1/2 quarters than all of Graham's RB's combined tonight!

Very impressive actually. If RHS could've beat two of the 6 they lost to they probably could've ended up hosting a playoff game with that many rider points.

I was sitting near an elderly lady, who looked to be in her late 60s or early 70s. At one point in the game she screams at the top of her lungs, "we need a new quarterback!" Sure wasn't expecting that. ?

What Akers said before the Ridgeview game to the players is true. When a coach tells you not to embarrass him, that’s some absolute crap. He has done a fine job embrassing himself the past 2 years!

Palmer is a capable coach, but he has also been blessed by an absurd run of athletes at the skill positions that don't come around often. I think he has some growing to do as it relates to the position itself, but he's capable.
