They just have to claim that as their residence. I’m not going to go into where I’ve seen that happen, but I know for a fact it has. The sport the kid transferred to play wasn’t football, either.

Look at it this way, he is a great guy, but if you were having someone spy on the opposing team, wouldn't you want someone with a lot more football knowledge than a local barber who takes pictures on the side, come on it just don't make sense. Most press people move around from side to side to get the best view of the filed, and maybe that's what he was doing, but if you think he was spying, to what avail, Union won. I can not account for his actions at that game, but I can say in my opinion you have nothing to worry about, he may be a photographer, but he is no spy.

Seems like a common theme lately to have local football programs experience vandalism. Somebody spray painted the cars of several Galax players last week while they were in Independence for the Grayson game. I hope everyone responsible is caught and made examples of.

To me TRAVIS seemed to limit his play calling this past Friday night, I saw things open here or there and I have seen them practice those plays, so maybe he was just keeping things under wraps until he needed them or maybe the match ups were in the favor of RICHLANDS.I would love to see MITCHELL line up in the wildcat then shift to a slot reciever, which would put him being one on one with a LB, 10 yards or a post pattern would burn up the other team. In many counties, a kid can choose their school to begin their eligibility beginning in 9th grade, but once they begin at one school, transfer rules apply if they choose to go to another county school...same as any other place they might would transfer.

No man. Not even close. When they won it all in volleyball last year, I was one of, if not the first to congratulate them on Twitter. They're up there for sure. Lol. On Friday, when they announced over the PA "End of the 3rd quarter, Richlands 10, Union 6.", the place exploded. I don't know if it was they were pulling for Richlands, or they were just hating on Union, but I tend to think more the latter. I did see a Facebook post someone shared with me though of a Union fan gloating that they wouldn't get that playoff rematch with Ridgeview, so I guess if everyone else saw that, then I can see why they don't feel too warm on Union also. edit: So, I've thought about it a little more... maybe it's because the majority of the fan base are Clintwood folks and it's that old LPD rivalry blood with PV/Appy is why they don't like Union... I don't know. Anyway, I am pulling for Union the rest of the way.

It has been great watching JM over the years, a little heart wrenching at times, but I wish him the best and hope to see him at VT so for once he will be on my team. Hats off to all the Union players, coaches, and fans, go get that State Title.

Wow, what a nickname! Such a sick burn. I never came up with a nickname for Bunker, Baker, Booker, or Farris. I also forgot to come up with with a name for the state player of the year in WV in 2009 that came from Graham. Or the guy that has a couple WV state rings & is playing FCS ball for Davidson right now that once attended on the VA side. Maybe you can give me some pointers? There's no denying that Graham gets Bluefield kids and Bluefield gets Graham kids. Not defending it but let's say you live off of college avenue in between Bluefield college (va) and right past Comcast (wv) ... you're within 2 miles of making it to either school. So even though I don't love the transferring I can understand that situation more than getting in a car and driving 40 minutes west on 460 everyday to school. I don't think you really wanna have this argument because you'll just say that every team gets transfers and I'll have to remind you that there's absolutely no debating that there's one team in particular in the area that has benefited more than probably every other team combined by transfers over the last 8-9 years.

In your alls opinion, why do we care about this so much? Why do people in this area take time out of their day to hop on a message board and discuss/argue about high school teenagers playing a sport? Some of us show up 12 hours before kickoff. We all have travelled 6+ hours for this. Simply, why? So many people have asked me this. I want to see if your alls answer is similar to mine.

Devon Johnson went to Marshall. Yed that is a great accomplishment but that's not the "highest" level of college football. Im glad you take great pride in your school and the kids that attend it but Im sorry Richlands High School is not the only school in this area that has produced D1 athletes contrary to what many may think. I did not bring up the topic of transfers. But since you mention it, Ive got a son that's in the 8th grade he's 6'4" 240lbs and he can fly.
