  3. Hey guys, just a quick word from an old man who loves high school football. A couple of our guys at work actually got the virus and ended up on ventilators. Both had blood clots in their lungs, and after recovery, (thanks be to God), their doctor told them not to get the vaccine, but are keeping check on the antibodies. We've also had a few employees that had the virus, didn't end up on the vent, and the doctor told them to get the vaccine, so I think it depends on the situation. As my view, I'd love to see everyone receive the vaccine, but have to say, it's still an individuals freedom to make that choice. As for me and my wife, we got the vaccine, and we've also used a cell phone for years, so the government already know were we are. Lol! Just my opinion.

  9. Jags52 is 100% correct on this. Double birds to the opposing bench/stands along with certain words tends to lead to you no longer participating in the contest. My crew and I worked this game. If I remember correctly 38 combined flags split basically even. It was an ugly game. Both teams were very young. One play late in the game I threw a flag on a Chilhowie WR and a player went down with cramps after the play. Robinson holler and asked me to come to the sideline. He at that time was typically pretty animated so I was expecting this to not be a fun conversation. He asked what they flag was for. Holding on the WR maybe 33 or 34 was the jersey number. He said that’s about his 3rd or 4th time tonight isn’t it. I said it was. He made a comment about the rough number of flags and even said sadly they are all probably legit. Not something you typically hear in a flag fest. Both coaches knew they were young. Thesebwere felony flags not misdemeanors that night. Just way more than anyone wants to see. Coaches. Players. Parents. Fans. Officials. Anyone. You just aren’t doing a team favors if you continually let felonies go and it impacts them down the road though.

    Marion @ Chilhowie

That penalty and ejection was against a player not Carroll. But It is kind of stupid to eject a kid AFTER Chillhowie took a knee and the clock was seconds away from hitting zero

  14. I think people should get their vaccine. I was thinking “Eh leave it up to the individual.” But I am closer to taking a bit of a harder line with it. I am a teacher. Not going to say where, but that obviously puts me in contact with kids. Vaccines have gotten the world rid of illnesses such as polio or smallpox. If you are concerned about the safety of your kids and that makes you reluctant to vaccinate, then you should be reluctant to allow your kids to play football, drive a car at 16, etc. And before anyone says it: vaccines do not cause autism. End of story. Goodbye. The end. See you later.

  15. Forget the whole Sweden reference, which is a ridiculous Apples:Oranges comparison on multiple different levels that I don't have time to discuss in full detail. It's funny that you accuse Ryan of moving goalposts, then you literally do exactly that by comparing this to swine flu. But since it submarines your entire argument, I'm happy to play that game. The 2009 swine flu killed 12,649 people among those 75,000,000 people affected. COVID-19 has killed 631,000 people among those 38,200,000 infected. As a point of reference, that's not too far away from the total number that AIDS has killed in the U.S. in the last 40 years. COVID-19 is roughly 100 times more deadly than the swine flu. Using that as any justifiable comparison for policy's sake is patently idiotic.

  18. I feel like Burton returns quite a bit of talent and they view this as a much bigger game. I may be wrong, but RV still has Abingdon, Wise and Union ahead. This is Burtons second biggest (or biggest) game all year, I think they'll be motivated to prove they're a legit threat in 1D. I'm not sure on RV, with the COVID stuff last year, I just didn't see them as much so I'm not sure what to expect. Then there's the Adkins void, teams don't usually lose a player of that caliber and improve. But again I've been wrong over the years way more than I've been right so anyone actually listening to me, I question their sanity.

Same. I can remember the game in 2004 when you couldn’t get a seat and they were lined up 3-4 deep all the way around the fence. It was a madhouse. Those were the days.

  27. It’s funny that you talk about differing opinions. UVAO and I have been friends for over a decade at this point. We sit on opposite sides of the political spectrum. We have 0 common sports teams. We went to different schools at every level. And yet — he and I can see past those things and remain friends. All the differences aside, I respect him as a human being. Which I can say for 98% of the posters on this board. Gridiron60 and I don’t agree on everyone — and don’t know each other outside of this board — but I respect him. He gets his opinions and points across in a normal way that doesn’t involve calling someone wife a “cuck.” You, on the other hand….

  28. It's sad we got to this place. This shouldn't have been politicized. And both sides are at fault. This should have been all of us coming together to protect each other because that's the human thing to do -- but we are barely humans at this point. We just want to fight and sling mud.
