I'm feeling much better about the Lee/Union Dinner Bucket trophy now. 😂

All about ratings. Abingdon is the biggest school around and we all know about the Union fan base. I think when push comes to shove, this game will be the one that more people in SWVA will care about. I think Chilhowie is 3-4 TDs better than PH. PH is a good team. But Chilhowie is a legit state title contender. On the other hand, I’m not sure who is better between Union and Abingdon.

Everyone also seems to forget that Pulaski is in our coverage area. They beat Abingdon by 28 points a few weeks ago. Their only losses are by 1 point to Northside, pretty good team this year and to Blacksburg by 7. Yet people decide to rank Patrick Henry ahead of them..

They are the only 3A school in SWVA. It was either join a 2A district or travel 3 days by mule each week to River Ridge district opponents.

Great effort by central. Fought really hard the whole game, playing mostly freshmen and sophomores. They grew up alot tonight. Future is bright!

I’m guessing tonight’s results have opened things up a bit. Given that everyone in the region has at least one loss with two weeks to play, could someone (VHSL Helper) breakdown some scenarios?

Advertisers like eyeballs and will pay if there are enough of them. I'm guessing most of the schools in the WCYB viewing area couldn't generate the necessary viewership to pay the costs.

I was right there with you though. They haven’t been electric, got blown out by Pulaski (albeit, on the road), no REAL speed....just thought Ridgeview would win. I’ll take the win, but can I go back and change my pick in the weekly pick’em?

Difference of 2 halves looked to be the change at QB. Both are play makers but #15 is a QB. When he's leading the offense it produces results. Maybe it was discipline issue but he didn't play last week either. Thats the poor use of talent. The defense cannot tackle. They are in position to make plays more often than not but get dragged 3-4 yards before a tackle is made if at all. Far to predictable on offense. If you swing a hammer at nail enough you will eventually hit it. Marion's top 2 rushers RB and QB carried the ball an obscene amount. Marion's fourth quarter lapse was more about fatique than the dogs finding something. I'll agree with the lack of effort and desire. Flat is flat. When tazewell scored early in the fourth it appeared they found a desire to win but still were unable to keep Marion on their side of the fifty. Maybe a combination of your assessment and mine?

Was this game chosen purely because it is two of the biggest fan bases in SWVA? Honestly think Chilhowie-PH gonna be a better game. I mean 2 8-0 teams in the same district doesn’t happen often

I think they get quite a bit of competition in the Mountain 7 as it is strong in all sports. However, they could benefit greatly by scheduling some Tennessee schools that wouldn't kill them in travel.

And I will say this. Coach Amburgey is a class act. Supper nice guy and will do great things at Abingdon. Maybe if things shake up at Central he can return home to wise.

Great game, listened to WDIC , good good call by the radio guys, not homers like most broadcast. Ridgeview hurt themselves several time but showed great character taking the lead after the bad first half

I will say that the Ridgeview radio guys were complimentary and fair. Got bent out of shape on a couple of plays, but overall did a good job.

AHS scores and wins 36-30.

Northside beat LB 27-24 on September 21. Two evenly matched teams will be fun to watch if they meet a third time!

All I know is I haven't seen a beat down like that since GMan dropped a banana down MNHokie's pants and turned the monkeys loose. Congrats G-Men!!

Sounds more to me like it was just the perfect storm brewing. Take a little factor from coaching experience, cleaned up penalties, coach change, blame the players, etc. All of it adds up to the beat down that they gave them. Any single factor isn't enough but all together it could have made a difference. I didn't see it coming. I figured Richlands could run on them since everybody else did and keep it close.

You think Head Coach having fired his defense coach for over 25 years played into the shutout? Maybe shouldn’t have made that move?

I'm sure D. Palmer had a part in the defensive game planning for this game. But Rex Bradshaw's contributions to our defense can't be overlooked.

How about talking about the game? And giving Graham some credit and quit making excuses. This is no place to be discussing GOSSIP. Especially in that situation. Graham deserves a ton of credit for that performance. Lets not forget that Graham was also dealing with the loss of a recent gtaduate.
