Hey buddy. I try to stay off of forums on here because of lunacy like this. However, this is pretty terrible. In all honesty, it is in the top two worst posts I have ever seen on here. Maybe it is because I had a connection with Devon. That guy was my friend. We grew up together. We played together. He was one of the nicest guys in the world. Tonight, a son is gone. A mother, brothers, nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends are heartbroken. 25 years old and gone way too soon. Who gives a damn how he passed away? He represented our area in a fine light. I think anyone on this board will admit that. That was my boy. I don't appreciate your ignorance.

There's friends and teammates that don't know what to think now that their brother and classmate is gone. And the LAST thing on this planet that they need is YOU coming on here with your BS Richlands hatred speculating on what happened. I wish I could say I can't believe you would do that, but sadly, this is right in your wheelhouse.

Bro you can't be that damn heartless. A 25 year old young man with all the kindness and talent in the world tragically lost his life, and instead of expressing condolences, you would rather take a cheap shot because your suck ass football team can't beat Richlands. Absolutely pathetic. Prayers for the Richlands community and Devon's family. I met him a few times in town and up at Marshall and he was such a nice person. He would actually take time to talk to people instead of brushing them off. Another young life gone way to soon, but heaven picked up a special angel today.

You guys kill me. You act as if games were not moved back in the day. We played in mud up to our knees mentality. Games were moved "ALL THE TIME" due to rain and snow and sometimes even cancelled. Now I realize that when the postponed games were played it was still quite muddy and not ideal. We are smarter and have the ability to know more about weather so why not take advantage of it? Go back and look through the score sheets I have on each team's history and look at all the postponed games. The only difference is they were played on Saturday, Monday or a mutual open date in the future.

& the Big Creek/War,WV community too. Even though he finished his career up at Richlands the people in southern McDowell County loved Devon and was overly proud of all he accomplished.

Come on man. Not cool. Gman, where you at. You dropped a suspension on a guy for making a harmless, silly joke about bluefield football. This is way beyond that. Regardless of what people “know” or think they know, this isn’t the place to pop off at the mouth about it. I don’t know the young man or his situation. And regardless if he walked on water or stole from children, he has a family that is having to deal with his passing right now. I don’t know the details and don’t care. Not my place. I’ll pray for the family.

From here on out, your post should be taken with a grain of salt. You cant back track from that. It was wrong and you know it. I only got to see Devon play once and you could see he was going to do something special. We have had tons of good players and a lot of great players. He was one of the great ones. And I'm glad he was able to switch positions at Marshall. Had his injury history been better, we would be watching him suit up for the Panthers.

GS would be a great coach at GC, but I can't see Scott County hiring him. If there's trash, he'll expose it. As far as the fans, I think we'd love him. He'd also get things fixed that should've been fixed years ago. Like a PA system that doesn't cut out, a scoreboard that you can actually read, and get rid of the ugly *** gray britches!

What happened to sucking it up and playing in the rain? I know they want it to be even matched for both teams, but football can’t always be played on a perfect day with sunshine and it be 65!!! Man things have sure changed over the years!!

Rookie Post...not Rookie LPD I was fortunate to play against Coach T. Dotson..Mr. Riggs..Mr. Harry Frye..PV Coaches..Coach Dave Ryder and Mr. Cummins. We would have taken care of this situation in the locker room or on the practice field..BEFORE it occurred on the field/court/diamond. The Helicopter Moms..Lawnmower Dads..Grandstand Usta' Bees have weakened the character and ownership responsibility of our student-atheletes. I will not be popular on this Forum so bring it.

Stan Rogers was a class act to me!! I played against him in baseball when he was coaching and I enjoyed talking to him before and after games.

That is laughable. Sorry but there isn't a snowballs chance that Abingdon finishes this season 8-2 this year doing the same thing we did last season. Let alone winning games against Union and Ridgeview and being the 3 seed to host a playoff game. And before you say something to the effect I don't know.. My son is a senior and I've been around the program long enough to know.

Condolences and prayers to his family, Devon was always a team guy and always put his TEAM first.Union and Richlands have had some great games but we as fans know a great player even when he wears the other teams colors......GOD SPEED young WARRIOR and God bless

It’s all about that money. Most of the players would love to play in a mud bowl but with a schools entire athletic budget depends on the football gate administration will move games for better gates. Your average fair weather fan isn’t sitting in the rain and cold for a football game. Also if you top 2 seed why would you destroy your field in the first round only to play in terrible conditions in the second or have to move you home game to a different field.

I understand BBN & UNION FAN I feel that they had a good game at JB about HOLDING on to the ball. I spoke to #43 kid, he said he will be ready this week...I feel that he is a big help on both sides of the ball for us.

I am like you, I do not know much about the region D teams. Although Galax has a loooonnnggg ways to go and alot of football with some good teams in between now and the state semis. Even if we win the next two it looks as though it will be a rematch with a 8 and 2 Narrows team. I didn't see the red team last year but the 2015, and 2016 teams was very very good.

Are we talking about the same guy who cussed his players, denied doing it, and was cussing them on a school bus video? And the same guy that yelled and demeaned injured players and the athletic trainer at practice? And the same guy who threatened to expose his principal in the press and accused his AD being addicted to drugs only to change his story later on? Yes, that guy will be an excellent hire and will be available for coaching for the rest of his life because no other school system with any common sense will ever hire him.

It was nice to get to watch him play last night. First time I have ever been happy to be able to watch someone play on MASN (thankfully FP Santangelo doesnt call basketball games). I guess I will get to see Mac play quite a bit on TV and didnt realize it until last night.

I haven't heard that anywhere, I'm not so sure..........

If we are doing 1A and 2A then I would have to vote Robinson 1A and Mullins 2A

We’re u at the game, when VA High played them. 2 of their best players were out! Va High is the closest thing to a speed team as far as Graham, but that train is hard to stop. If Graham overlooks it will be more than close.

Is there a better candidate out there than Darren reed? He knows gc football. Hc experience. Abingdon still riding his coattails. They will drop off next year. If he don’t get the job... then Scott county school board is even dumber than what we think they are. Give him a chance. Give him at least 3 years. That’s what Akers got. If he can’t do it. Then give houseright his chance. If neither of those 2 work then scratch the program.

So there is a worse candidate out there than Darren Reed. Senseabaugh would not only ruin the football team but also the community.

This is certainly a shock and a heartbreak. He accomplished so much and was such a beacon of hope for the County. Prayers for the Richlands community and the Johnson family.

I don't disagree, but it seemed like he was throwing a lot of shade at Chilhowie.

Jeff Robinson has done a great job not letting all the hype get to his kids head. Mark Palmer’s PH team really came out of no where for me. Now they don’t play the toughest schedule but they took care of business in those games. They also beat a play off bound battle team and hung 23 on chilhowie which 2 more scores than anyone else could do.

He would be good for most of the kids and is probably what the program needs. Hed get alot of kids to come out and play for the simple fact of who he is alone and probably breathe life into the program. But the special snowflakes and their parents would faint when he got on their arses and tried to toughen them up. Would be an interesting hire though.....however, not a snowball's chance in hell. He would have been a nice hire after Colobro left when there was still plenty of spine in the program. Still some tasty food for thought.

Well said sir. Chilhowie caught a few rough breaks in the state championship game last year and Galax didn’t have their best player but that was last year. Chilhowie for sure has not played down to their competition. It would have been easy for a team as loaded at chilhowie this year to lay an egg against a PH or a GW but Coach Robinson has those boys laser focused. I have no clue what region C looks like but with all this hype let’s hope they both make it

I will gladly cheer on whatever team makes it to the state for Region D and be happy for them. After all, they are all high school kids working toward the same goal no matter the school they attend. Are they always perfect, not a chance but they are kids. As adults we should be the standard bearer for sportsmanship. With that said, Go GMen! If another team comes out on top for Region D, then I'll cheer "Bring it home to SWVA boys!"

Graham has the best athletes in the region and it’s not even close. Speed kills and they have plenty of it. The only thing that will slow them down at far a region D goes is injury, a team dominating them at the line of scrimmage (they are much improved in that department from years past), or a muddy field. VA high has a thunder and lightening back field with Rose and the freshman. The Mulumba kid is a freak on the d line along with #77 but they played before and it wasn’t close I’m not sure how much losing their leader early in the game had to do with that but as long as graham doesn’t over look them it should be the same result.

I would put Turner in the pot for what he has done. He has won 8 games without James Mitchell or Jeb Stidham. Pretty good job in my opinion.

Very saddened to hear of the passing of Devon Johnson. Him and my eldest son were good friends,so it has hit hard here as well. He was a tremendous football player and a good guy. Please lift his family,friends,and this community up in your prayers tonight and the days to come. He will be profoundly missed:(
